Hi Westoz
I can understand your dilemma when it comes to choosing!
First of all though, let me say you have made the most important decision by choosing to go for an Omega watch, whatever it may be! You will not regret buying an Omega!
Now we come on to the issue of which one do you go for? At the end of the day Westoz, it really is down to you, the owner of the watch who is going to be investing in a top timepiece of prestige and class. Let me raise a couple of pointers that I hope will help you in your quest to find the watch for you.
In my experience of Omega, I have 2 Seamasters - The "Bond" Blue one and the black faced 2254 - Both, to me are excellent watches in their own right and I chose the "Bond" one first due to the fact that is was associated with James Bond & had appeared in the 4 Pierce Brosnan movies. To me, that was enough to sway me to buy the watch, even though I was split between that and the 2254 (which I purchased brand new 5 months down the line).
All I can say about the original "Bond" SMP is that if you decide to get this, you will not regret it and for the price range you may have? and a top swiss timepiece - this watch will fit your bill without question! And there is the small matter that it is "The Bond Watch" - This watch is a classic!
In your post, you also talk about the new GMT Seamaster with Co-Axial technology that Omega has recently released. As a pointer this is currently appearing on the offical Omega website as a "James Bond Watch" along with the original SMP. Can something be read into this that this will be the watch Daniel Craig wears in Casino Royale due to the fact it is advertised as a "James Bond" watch??? It's possible, but as of yet nothing has actually been confirmed to date no matter what Omega try to palm us all of with.
In light of this watch, I do not own the GMT, but having tried one on, it does nothing for me. The price has obviously been highly inflated due to the Co-Axial technology, but apart from that I would leave it at the door! The original "Bond" Seamaster IMO is much much better!
Finally, looking at the PO, there has been alot of rumours circulating that Daniel Craig will wear this in C R. Pics on the set clearly showing him wearing a black faced PO on rubber strap have only intensified things. This aside, nothing has been confirmed.
To take a close look at the PO, it is without question a wonderful watch - Basically I am going to make sure it is my next purchase!
My reasons for this is that I love the look of the watch. Although I love the classic black look, I'm slightly swayed towards Orange. But more people will go for the black! Alot of people's thoughts on the PO is that it will become a classic and is basically another Sub-Mariner in terms of what it is destined to become with prestige and as an iconic symbol. Although it is pricey, I would personally save for one of these beauties! But with the money you part with, you get what you pay for!
At the end of the day, I would narrow my choices down to the "Bond" SMP and the PO - The "Bond" would be best if you're trying to budget things, but for all out balls, flair and class I would save the extra for the PO.
The most important thing to remember though is that whatever you choose you won't be disappointed! You're buying into one the very best watch brands in the world!
Hope this kind of helped you!
Kind regards
