Mike, let me remind you. You did it to get a watch equipped with an outsourced motor, and an overly busy dial. But don't worry, don't you have a Yachtmaster on order?

how weird life is! Why did i do it? Well, so far I don't regret the sale of mine...of course, it was for a worthy cause so that helps. But, truth be told the Pepsi bezel wasn't seeing much wrist time. John

Hey Mike, rather than a Breitling, why not seriously look at a JLC Master Compressor or Master Geographic.
Or if you're into chronos, have a look at what Fortis has to offer. A buddy of mine has one and it's very nice.
OR Panerai has a nice GMT if you're missing that 4th hand.

Well, I'd probably go Breitling before Fortis or Panerai (I see Panny as being too flash in the pan, but they do have a rabid cult following). However, I'll 2nd the vote for a JLC....If I fell backwards into a big money pile, I wouldn't mind owning a gold Master Geographic. John

I think Panerai is also a flash because of the fashionability (is that a word?) of large watches. However, they have an interesting history, beautiful Unitas movements (the one I want) and a simple dial. I'm waiting for the bottom to all out of the Panny market so I can swoop in and get a 112 for a bargain.
But you can't go wrong with JLC. They make phenominal movements and I really do like the Master Compressor.
I just can't get my head around Brietling though. Never have, and I guess never will. BTW, do you get a free ball cap when you buy a Breitling watch? I see a LOT of guys wearing Breitling ball caps.

In fairness to Breitling, they actually do some pretty serious work to the ETA calibers that go in their watches...as much or more than Panny does. We're talking complete disassembly and reassembly, and extensive finishing work. They actually purchased a seperate company called Kelex (I believe that's the name of it) which does this movement work for them. Breitling's "reward" program is pretty neat...every time you buy a Breitling you get a different gift...ball cap, backpack...they tend to increase in value with every purchase. Supposedly you can get a NICE leather jacket eventually. John

Ah fair enough. I'm just not a fan of Breitling.
That's an interesting rewards program. I wish other manufacturers would take a page from Breitling's book.

Yes, Kelek is the company that was acquired by Breitling. Kelek actually makes some of their own watches. Breitling's "reward" program is kind of nice. So far I've received a hat, polo shirt, lighter, and backpack. Eventually you get up to the leather Breitling flight jacket. We'll see what I get with my new Chrono Avenger. They used to send out chocolates at Christmas, but they took the boatload of money they were spending on that and donated it to the 9/11 Fund. Sounds like a better use anyway. But overall, it sort of makes you feel like Breitling actually appreciates you as a customer. Rolex could care less that you own one of their watches. I know people that have even just called Breitling and had them send them some stuff. How about this for a nice white dial Breitling Mike? (pic courtesy of Breitling)

A Superocean or Headwind is on my long short list.
