Timefinder,
Yes IWC services their vintage watches. The company attempts to carry an impressive inventory of parts. I have seen many collectors hand carry their vintage watches to Schaffhausen for repairs, redials, refurbishing, etc. IWC is an incredibly customer oriented company. They genuinely care about their collectors. I was lucky enough in Oct to visit the factory and get to see some of the old ledger books hand written with the data Scott alludes to in the original post in this thread. And, the collectors themselves are very knowledgeable of the history and tradition of the company.

I keep hearing that they will not service certain vintage models, and I wonder what will happen to mine in 25-30 years.

While Rolex doesn't service all the vintages, you could walk across the Hudson on all the watchmakers that do service Rolex (oh, wait - you can already walk across it! ). I don't think you'll ever have a shortage of people to work on Rolex. And many people are skilled enough to make the part the watch may need. IWC on the other hand sells far fewer watches, is 'lesser' known outside WIS's and for them I think it's far more important to service longer than the Big R. I'd certainly bet that Rolex not servicing the vintages doesn't hurt their sales at all. And, it's probably cheaper for a comsumer to service at a 3rd parts 'expert' than Rolex anyways....

ScottD: John said the same thing on a similiar thread in the Rolex forum! For me, I just want to ensure I keep this with genuine parts for as long as possible. BTW, how is your IWC running? I saw in the other thread it was +2 after a week? That is AMAZING!!!!

BTW, got tired of the tang style buckle on it, so swapped it out for an IWC Deployment! MUCH better from a comfort standpoint!
