We are the only ones who give a Rats Butt about watches!!
I doubt that there are too many people who judge anyone by what watch they wear. Or even notice.
This is WIS territory and there aren't as many of us a we might like to believe.
I have seen people with very nice watches and when (rarely) I comment all I hear is a clueless "oh, Thanks"
I get next to no comments on what I wear other than the occasional "got the time??" or (from a family member) "is that new??"
Face it --there aren't a whole lot of WIS other than those who are forum members.
Vive la differance!!!

I'm a little skeptical of the story about the kids not knowing about telling time on analog timepieces. I do know that a lot of younger people aren't interested in wearing a watch because so many gadgets have timepieces installed, but the analog clock is ubiquitous, so even if you are a kid who has a cellphone, an MP3 player, and pair of "heelies" with digital clocks on board, there are still times when the clock on the wall is the easiest way to tell the time. I'm going to run an informal experiment over the next couple of weeks to see what I find. Everyone between the ages of 9 and 19 ought to be fair game. What's WIS?
