As a treat (i love vintage pieces) I found some pix of this Rolex DeepSea Oyster. Nice name, huh? This model of vintage Rolex, reference 6332, is often discussed as it is the only model of Oyster cased watch that Rolex made with flat sides as opposed the the rolled or curved sides one normally sees. Note the Explorer style 3, 6, 9 pattern of steel Arabic numerals set against the Oyster white colored dial. Another key vintage feature of the watch are the original lance shaped steel Rolex hands that were discontinued in the 1950's. This watch dates to 1954. It features a Rolex semi bubbleback automatic caliber 645 movement. Also note the different crown marking. The watch measures 33.5mm wide by 42mm long, which is small by today's standards, but back then on the average to large size. Something like this today would fetch about US$2,000. Amazing when you consider new it wasn't much more than $75. img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-10/858885/dp1.jpg [/img] img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-10/858885/dpcrown.jpg [/img] img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-10/858885/dpmove.jpg [/img]

John, I'd love to see this watch, but your photos don't come up for me You're right about the values of these watches. Could have bought a Sub in '81 for $900.00.

Odd, they loaded up for me right away, but at home they don't. I'll check on Monday (pix are at work).

Neat - reminds me of the first Rolex I ever bought - a vintage 1970 Oyster Precision.
