Mike, any good hardware shop should sell 3M scotchbrite green pads.
Simply, and gently, brush with the grain until the scratch is removed. In actuality, you're scratching over the 'non-grain' scratches.
Use a cape cod polishing cloth for the polished bits. I've used both to very satisfactory results.

Very big green sweaters. What are Cape Cod polishing cloths ;D Cheers Aaron Man! The abuse I've taken over my "jumper." It's a closeup photo guys....it looks bigger than it is. Besides, don't you guys roll up your sleves to make sure your watch is easily seen? ;D In truth, because I'm 5'7" and wear a large (34 waist pants, size 44 coat. ;D), the sleeves on my sweaters are in many cases a little long...so I just roll 'em up. I'll never be back to the 30 in. waist I was in highschool, but I'm almost back to my 33 in. pants. ;D Years of weighlifting have made me a pretty big boy for only being 5/7". I'm running about 190 right now, and I'm lean and mean at 180-185. John

You lift too John?
I'm 6'6", 215lbs with a 35" waist. Fatherhood adds an inch or two per year to the waist.
When I was racing bicycles I weighed just 165lbs in racing trim. Yep, I was a stickman. ;D
