New Article: The Disassembly of a Miyota 8215

John, an interesting read. Thanks for sharing and cannibalizing.

One thing helpful could be some arrows in the pix to identify certain components.

As an ex-bicycle racer I taught myself bike repair to save costs (starving student and racer). I just took everything apart, piece by piece, layed out on a sheet in the order I took it apart, and then reverse the process.

I have a fake yachtmaster I picked up for my daughter to toss around (having found out she liked to put my ExpII in her mouth and didn't want to risk it hitting the floor).

Now that she's destroyed it, I'd love to take apart the movement just for curiosity's sake. How much did you pick up the tools for (if you don't mind me asking).

Johnny....you assume I know enough about the inner components of the movement to accurately label them. While I appreciate the vote of confidence, I don't think arrows pointing to the "thingumabob" or the "watchumajig" would be all that helpful.... ;D ;D ;D

You essentially bought your daughter a fake Yachtmaster to chew on? Brings an all new meaning to the word "pacifier".... ;D ;D ;D

I purchased the majority of my tools (I have quite a few actually) used in an eBay auction for under twenty bucks....I have no idea what many of the tools are or what they do exactly....which isn't any different than most of the other tools in my garage....I'm not exactly mechanically inclined....Bob Villa I ain't!

That's a great anecdote Jack - I doubt I would have been brave enough to try this on a movement that was working properly, or on that I intended to get back together...
