Hi guys I am after some thoughts if you don't mind in regards to photography. What are light boxes and will they help me get rid of light reflections and shadows?
What are the photo services I have heard talked about, especially in regards to posting pictures on this site and what other things can they do?
Cheers Aaron

Cheers Aaron Hi Aaron, A light box is designed to maximize the illumination of the watch stage area, and minimize reflections, "hot spots", shadows, etc. Most light boxes are translucent and designed so that you place the light source on the outside of the box, and the watch on the inside. Here's a quickie "light tent" that may not even require you to purchase anything. First take a normal piece of white printer or copier paper and bend (not fold) so that it's shaped like a tend. Place it on a desk between to heavy objects (paper weights) so that the tent shape is maintained. Next get a desk lamp or two and shine it directly over, or on each side of the tent. Place your watch inside the tent. Photograph away! You'll have to play with it - placement and intensity of the light, etc. to get optimal effects, but I've seen many GREAT photos using a simple light tent like this. Do a Yahoo search for "free photo host" and several options should come up. A photo host is very useful for storing photos, and displaying them on sites like this one. Best, John

A cheap and effective light box can be bought at your local convenience store.
All you need is a white plastic , translucent milk jug. Cut a hold it in for you to get the camera lens in there (or to view through) and shine lights into it. The plastic will act as a diffuser and it will give a clear, soft light with no reflections. You can also hang your watch from the top and clean it up in photoshop (i.e. white out the hanging apparatus).
