I just got the double Everwell wood winder from John R., thanks John!! I only plan to use it on the days my wife and I are wearing non-auto watches, usually on the weekends. I don't like the idea of constant winding movement of the crown every Monday morning, more chances for something to happen? Sometimes I even wear some of the non-autos for a day or two. The winder is needed. You bring up a good point that's actually in a winders favor. If you decide to keep your multiple automatics wound via the crown, you could be doing some excess wear and tear that they weren't designed for. Particularly, the act of regularly unscrewing/rescrewing the crown will prematurely wear out the threads. Also, I've heard it said that autos don't have as robust of a winding stem as do hand wound mechanicals - it's assumed autos will be kept wound via movement. So regularly hand winding them probably doesn't do yourself any favors. Minor points to be sure, but definitely ads to the pro-winder argument. John

I believe so. I did an article in the Spring of this year for IW and surveyed nearly every winder manufacturer out there. I didn't find any better value out there than Everwell. John
