Today for the first time in a while I went shopping with the wife. The kids were at the grandparents for the day. The wife did her thing and naturally I sussed out a few jewellers. For the first time I actually seen the Seamaster chrongraph 2599.80.00.Got a great price I think of $3475AUD approx $2593USD.That is new from authorized etc with one extra year of warranty thrown in. I knew this was a thick watch but seeing it in person I am having second thoughts.I was wondering how any one has found it to wear. Here is another picture but with the light dial The other thing that I was unaware of is that it uses an 1164 movement.I thought it was the 33xx movements. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I can tell you that these chronos are quite popular. Omega just recently released a LE silver dial Seamaster chrono with the 3301 (see Lev's post).
My thoughts are these:
-I like the white dial version best.
-The Seamaster chonos sure do look nice, but having owned and played with a number of chronos, I don't think I'd want one with screw down crowns. There are many cases where the need to time something comes up quick, and unscrewing the crown is a hassle that makes you miss your window of opportunity.

Lev is the one that got me started on these chronos especially the gorgeous silver one of his. Is it only the LE with the 33xx in the Seamasters. The only one I could see on the Omega site was a hand painted dial(something like that.)The rest had the 1164 movement. You know I had the watch in my hand and never noticed the buttons. You are meaning the Chrono buttons screw down as well. I was so shocked by the bulk I didn't notice anything else. The discount by the way was $700.00AUD with out sharpening pencils and the warranty blew out to three years. Cheers Aaron

Cheers Aaron The 33xx is more widely used in the Speedmaster lines (the Broad Arrow, The Legend, etc.). I believe the LE Seamaster is the first use of this movement in a Seamaster. You are correct - the chrono buttons as well as the crown all screw down. John

Referring back to a previous post "12 or more watches" I can't stand to leave my watches all alone and frequently play with them all.The dilema is that I don't want too many watches.I always thought I would buy the SMPC and then later a Submariner.(The Sub untill you and Mike started flashing those bright [glow=red,2,300]DISCO[/glow]GMT IIs around. Here go the crazy thoughts again.Sell the black SMP buy the chrono and buy a black Sub.The only reason I would sell the black SMP is I would have a black Sub and that is all I need.Plus it would free up funds for faster purchasing. Its like a kid in a candy shop.I want and I want it now. ;D Bloody watch forums you know where your heading but now you change course. I love it.

That's pretty much the reason why I sold my black dial SMP. I find that when I have watches that "compete" with each other for wrist time (like having 2 black dial dive watches) much internal turmoil and conflict is caused. Better to sell one and get maximum enjoyment from the other! John

The chrono buttoms do "not "screw down, that is just a cosmetic feature. On this particular watch you can engage the chrono feature under water. The watch is big, but very comfortable. I've had mine for 18 months now.
