This weekend I got to baby sit a friends Jame Bond Seamaster....I knew I wanted it, but now I want it BAD.... I'm actually toying with the idea of selling the electric blue SMP to get it! I love the electric blue, but it does tend to compete with the TT Blue Submariner I have for wrist time...the Sub usually wins in the shootout of the electric blue dials.... I know if I'm patient, I can get the Bond early next year.....waiting is so hard though!!! ;D ;D Any advice guys? John

Hey John, hows it going? Glad to hear we like the same watch! LOL...
I am seeing if I buy myself a SMPC (NEED the Chrono)... I have tried several times but al deals have fallen through and it made me stop wanting it for a while. Now I am just hoping to have some $ left over after the move and selling some watches to be able to get it.
Why do you say you could wait until next year to get it? Cant you get it now, or are prices just higher now?
I really think the Bond Seamaster is a classic model that I really want. The only thing that turns me off a bit about the SMPC is the 7750 movement. But this one is about $1,000 cheaper than the newer one with the Piguet movement... So $1,000 almost make up for anything, and they certainly make up for the wobble! And plus I hear that the wobble isnt very noticable.
Good luck on your search for the watch and let us know what you decide.

So from that point of view, I can wait until Jan or Feb and not have to really pay anything "out of pocket" so to speak. It's really a smarter option, so I think I'll wait...unless I decide to sell the eletric blue Seamaster I have....AAARRRGGGHHH.....I hate being indecisive... I really do like the electric blue though...and I'd hate to not have a Seamaster with the sword hands.... John John

First, start by selling the blue Smp and then buy the Bond Smp , then realise that having two blue dial/bezel watches is too much , sell the Rolex two tone and buy the Sub in stainless steel , but then again it competes with your Sea-Dweller :(so sell the SD so you have enough cash to take a nice vacation , but wait, you are still missing that black/black Seamaster you sold weeks ago , so forget the vacation and buy the black Smp , but wait again there's this white gmt you can buy instead, and if it interferes too much with your white face Explorer you can sell the Rolex and buy... er... Wait again! You cannot sell that Explorer cause it's one of your favorite watches, so let's start all over again, shall we?

Claudel - I'm not sure what's funnier....you're post, or the fact that I've actually traveled on this train of logic MANY times! It's frustrating how certain watch choices we make can limit us in future purchases.... I guess it's just a matter of how much duplication in your collection you can justify....I see posts from Panny guys (as an example) who have like 5 different versions of the same basic watch and I scratch my head going, "what's the point?" John
How can you think of selling the Electric Blue? You were waxing lyrical about it just a couple of months ago, so much so that it convinced me to get one and indeed I ditched my Black SMP for it and I must say I haven't looked back.
Personally I'm not too wild about the Bond as I can't warm to either the bracelet or the skeleton hands. But to each his/her own.
Wasn't Claudel's post so funny ;D ;D ;D. It had me rolling about thinking about your predicament!!! ( without being unkind, naturally )
Me, I'm just happy with my black AT and the Electric Blue and funds permitting would consider either the blue dial Speedy with black strap ( 38238003 ) or the AT Chronograph ( 25123000 ). Have you seen the latter?
Best

But I'm only wearing it maybe once a week...sometimes not even that much. Why? Because it has to compete with my other "electric blue" dial watch: I've almost (again) made up my mind to keep the electric blue because I like it so much (see!!!!) and because there are some occassions where I want a big, shiny, trendy attention getting watch that doesn't scream Rolex.... But wow....I do want that Bond, if for no other reason than its much more of a departure from the rest of the watches in my collection. John

Claudel's post was hysterical...probably because everyone who loves watches has played that game in their head! As far as the bond seamaster goes. I love the bracelet and face and have owned it for 5 years. I never thought of selling it, just have thoughts of what to add to it. Thanks for the great post John. I look forward to checking in everyday.

John, Glad to see you finally coming over to the "Bond" side. It's a classic watch just like it is and will be a classic forever. Heck, it's only about a $1300 pop and if you shop very carefully for a pristine used one, you can get into one for less than $900. How about a quartz? Can't believe I said that. How about putting out the feelers for Christmas? Only about 74 days left. Have fun thinking about it, though.
