Hi guys, I'm a newbie so if this subject has been beaten to death I apologize, I did search through 10 pages of past posts to avoid asking a typical newbie question but at the risk of angering the Rolex gods and the venerable veterans here I'm going to ask anyway.
I am looking for the best price on a 2007 "Z" series TT Submariner, don't want a used one and the AD I visited last week in Boston (home-town) wanted $7700 for it. And the sponsors here have "OK" prices but not great. I know could get it cheaper on e-bay but I'm leery about making a capital purchase on an auction board.
Any advice or direction is welcome for an on line seller or an east coast AD that doesn't have to make a killing off me, thanks

Hi Wantonebad, Welcome to WTF.. Hope to see you post here often. Well, most AD's, especially in the US sell for a comparable price. Rolex rules the AD's with an iron fist, and any discounts too deep will risk the dealers license. So I doubt you'll find the killer deals in any AD, unless they're closing out a model, you're a super-star customer of theirs or they know you well. Though buying out of state, you'll at least save the tax, which can be substantial. The sponsors are good guys to buy from. Better deals than most AD"s, and they are legitimate dealers - no worrying about who you're dealing with. Ebay sometimes will offer the best deals, but with the bigger reward comes the bigger risk. You CAN get good deals on Ebay, but you have to do your legwork, research & check out the buyers extensively. While they may not be the best dollar value on the face of it, remember that if you buy a Rolex (new or pre-owned) from anyone except a Rolex AD you will NOT receive a Rolex warranty. If the seller bought the watch 5 days ago & decided to sell, you will not get the remainder of the 2 year warranty. If you want a Rolex warranty you have to deal with the AD"s. Also, having a local shop to drop the watch off at or get help is a very valuable resource. Another option many people have done is find a good local AD and ask if they will ship to a relative or friend out of state. If they don't have a store in that state, that'll save you the tax.. Anyways, good luck! If you have any additional questions, let us know & I'm sure someone will chime in to hep. Hope to see pictures of your new Rolex soon!!

Yeah, $7,700 isn't a real good price break on this watch. I've been lurking in the market for a 16613 TT Blue Dial Submariner for many months now.
I have a standing offer at my current AD for 10% off, though that should get a little better since I recently bought a different Rolex from them. Have you considered going international? Good deals can be had as close as the Caribbean, so if you're out there on vacation, why not kill two birds with one stone?

I THOUGHT the TT sub was around 8100 dollars

The prices in Nassau and St. Thomas weren't great and when I walked away their last ditch offers were only 10% better. I'd rather buy domestically. There is a jewlers building in downtown Boston that is a kind of a clearing house and I can usually find someone there who wants to wheel and deal, so I can one for around $6300 but no warrantee. so I guess I have to pick my poison.
8100 for a TT sub? I'd quit looking if I had to pay that much

$7,825 is the latest price I've seen. However, there's another rumor of a pending price increase on some models, so wouldn't surprise me to see it climb a bit very soon...

Wantonebad: Welcome to WTF!!! So you are from Beantown? Physically in town, or in the suburbs? BTW, did you call Rolex to get a list of ADs in your area? There is one in Natick if you live off the Pike.

There is one in Natick if you live off the Pike. Well I'm in the burbs, Newton to be exact, about 7 miles from downtown Boston. I think there are two AD's in Natick now that the new mall is open. Alpha-Omega watches, and Tourneau

BTW, if you do purchase a Rolex, SAVE ALL YOUR PAPERWORK!!!! Just on the off chance you need warranty work performed, you will need the paperwork/warranty card.

ScottD is right on about the MSRP, as usual. However, he's right also that the rumor mill has been quite active with "price increase" propoganda. I have to echo what someone else said: if you can get the same discount locally as you can out-of-country, buy local. Then again, I seem to recall that Kirk Freeport in Georgetown, Grand Cayman was offering 10% off, and then another 5% off of that amount. Weird, but it was getting somewhere. I had an offer from an AD where I purchased a new Planet Ocean in Cozumel: new 16613 Blue Dial Sub for about $6,600, if I recall correctly. I should have bought.... But, then my wife wouldn't have let me back on the cruise ship......

Hey everyone what is your thought on this? ADs would be less prone to provide a discount due to Christmas shopping and it would be better to purchase a watch in January when sales are slow. I have heard that before and want others to chime in. Thanks!
