I am trying to get a feel for how much the retail price on the GMT IIs have increased over time. Does anyone know what the retail price was on a two-tone 1997/1998 GMT II?
Thanks!

Greetings and welcome to WTF and the Rolex Forum! I don't have the retail price for certain, but I do believe a TT Sub has gone up about $1500.00 in that period. I'd say the GMT is about the same.

From my own personal experience, I bought a TT Yachtmaster (35mm) in 1999. I remember the list price at that time was $6450. Todays list price of the exact same watch is $8000.
Using the inflation calculator and projecting the annual inflation of 2.72%, $6450 in 1999 is equivalent to $7995 in 2007.
Conclusion, it appears the price increases for the TT YM is only to compensate for inflation.
I wonder if the same hold true for SS or 18K models?

Id: That is a GREAT website. Thanks! I am AMAZED and baffled at the same time, why the prices nearly doubled on all watches from 1986 - 1989. Why that 3 year period?

Thanks for all the input! That website is a great resource.
Seems we are in the midst of another pricing adjustment upward, on par with the noted '86-'89 jump (actual dollars, not %).
