No 26 - July 23 2007 OMEGA SPEEDMASTER PROFESSIONAL X-33
The OMEGA Speedmaster Professional X-33 was designed and tested in 1995 for 5 years in coordination with American and European astronauts and professional pilots from the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds squadrons. The watch incorporated the latest technical features which were required for manned space missions. NASA had required the case material to be Titanium due to its’ hypo-allergic properties that it was non-ferrous, non-magnetic, light and robust. X-33 was the OMEGA codename for the project and the title became so popular that it was retained as the name of the watch. To be flight-qualified, the X-33 had to maintain an accuracy level within –0.3 to +0.5 sec on a daily basis, be pressure –resistant to 3 bars, shock resistant to 3500g’s and be anti-magnetic. It had to maintain temperature resistance from –20 to +70 degrees Celsius and pass lighting and vacuum tests. Housed in a 44m titanium case, the digital functions of the X-33 are easily displayed by a simple press of the crown or push buttons and are visible in the dark thanks to the luminous screen. The functions of the watch include analogue and digital display of hours, minutes and seconds. The dial of the perpetual calendar shows day, date, month and year along with an end of life battery indicator and there is also an 80 decibel alarm. Worn on either a bracelet or Kevlar band and usually both by astronauts so as to instantly recognise which watch was being used for particular functions, the X-33 with its’ green display with luminous painted baton indexes has special features to meet the requirements of space missions and to allow the performance of space-related experiments. Mission Elapsed Time up to 999 days Mission Elapsed Time Alarm which may be programmed at anytime during the mission Universal Time which may be used as a GMT function Universal Time alarm Countdown up to 100 hours Chronograph measurements to 1/100th second, again up to 100 hours Pictures - omegawatches.com

No 30 - July 27 2007 OMEGA SPEEDMASTER BROAD ARROW 1957
The New OMEGA Speedmaster Broad Arrow 1957 is a watch for the discerning enthusiast in search of luxury, precision and a legendary reputation. The watch pays homage to its distinguished Speedmaster family line with its’ iconic “Broad Arrow” hands but, with a movement upgrade and luxurious details, it enters a new dimension and category of mechanical superiority and artistry. Powered exclusively by the OMEGA Calibre 3313 chronometer-certified, self-winding movement with the Co-Axial escapement, it offers even greater reliability and accuracy. In tune with the sophisticated nature of this timepiece, the case and bracelet have been crafted in a choice of metals including a stunning combination of 18-carat red gold and stainless steel. Embellishing the three gold models of the watch even further is the innovative “screw and pin” bracelet, an ingenious system for the rapid adjustment of the length of the bracelet. 1957 was a groundbreaking year for OMEGA. The original Speedmaster - celebrating its 50th anniversary this year - formed a trio of OMEGA débuts along with the Railmaster and the Seamaster 300. All three watches were high-precision timepieces designed for professional assignments and offered similar performance and aesthetic features with black dials, very robust cases and stainless steel bracelets. This new Speedmaster Broad Arrow has inherited some characteristic traits of the Speedmaster line with its distinct arrowhead hands, curved and facetted horns and tachymeter scale on the bezel, but it has been reinterpreted in opulent materials and details. All three versions of the dial, in sleek black, elegant silver and rich, chocolate brown display the timekeeping and chronograph features in high style. The hallmark “Broad Arrow” hands have been facetted, polished and coated with Super-LumiNova for improved aesthetics and legibility. The wide baton hour markers and the OMEGA logo at 12 o’clock have been applied to the dial creating a greater sense of depth and dimension. To further adorn and highlight the chronograph functions, the counters have a contrasting outer ring, matching the material of the case and dials. In the case of the silver dial model which is not shown here, as with its’ predecessor, the hands and the hour markers are made of blued steel; in the black dial version these features have been applied in rhodium and in the brown, black and silver version, the dial is enhanced with golden hands, outer ring and hour markers. The column wheel chronograph mechanism of this timepiece is designed to ensure a smooth start to the sweep of the seconds hand when the chronograph is activated and precision stop and reset functions. The Speedmaster Broad Arrow has a power reserve of 52 hours, a convenient date window at 6 o’clock. The 42 mm case of the Broad Arrow is available in a variety of metals: in sumptuous 18-carat red gold, 18-carat yellow gold, a dramatic combination of stainless steel and 18-carat red gold and more traditional stainless steel. The case has been beautifully polished and brushed and the special double gaskets on the crown and chronograph pushers ensure water resistance to 100 metres/330 ft. The resilient sapphire crystal case back protects and reveals the superlative Co-Axial 3313 movement and the dial is afforded maximum resilience with a domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. For watch lovers who prefer the feel and look of a leather strap, there is a choice of a brown calfskin strap for the stainless steel model and a brown alligator strap for the yellow gold model, both with their corresponding stainless steel or yellow gold foldover clasps. The red gold watch can be customised with a black alligator leather strap with its red gold foldover clasp and the impressive stainless steel and red gold version also comes with a brown alligator strap with a stainless steel foldover clasp and OMEGA’s distinctive logo in red gold. No 32 - July 31 2007 OMEGA SPEEDMASTER DAY-DATE RACING – MICHAEL SCHUMACHER LIMITED EDITION 2002
The 2002 Limited edition of the OMEGA Speedmaster Day-Date Racing was created as a tribute to Michael Schumacher’s historic, record-equaling feat of five world championships which tied him with the achievements of Juan Manual Fangio in Formula 1. Made in a numbered, limited series of 5,555 pieces, the familiar Speedmaster case in stainless steel features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. Quite striking and impressive is the dial which bears the hallmarks of motorsport. Made of carbon fibre, it features a chequered flag motif on the chronograph hour counter at 6 o’clock and a special day-date display in the chronograph minute counter which is located in the 12 o’clock position. Of special interest is that Sunday which is race day, is marked in red and all the other days are in white. The red outlining is very evident across the dial beginning with the inscription, the luminous hour markers and the date circle that is arranged around the circumference of the dial. Powered by the OMEGA calibre 1151 automatic chronograph movement, the watch displays hours, minutes and central seconds. An additional central arrowhead hand points to the date around the circumference of the dial. Power reserve is rated at 44 hours and the watch is water-resistant to a depth of 30 metres/100feet. The caseback is engraved with the legend “ World Champion 2002 “ in red, Michael Schumacher’s signature in black and an etching of the numbered edition of each watch. Picture – omegawatches.com

No 33 - August 1 2007 OMEGA DE VILLE HOUR VISION 159 YEARS IN THE MAKING
To celebrate the launch of its exclusive in-house manufacture calibres 8500/8501, OMEGA proudly unveils an exceptional collection of revolutionary timepieces within the De Ville range: Hour Vision. The 41 mm case of the De Ville Hour Vision adopts the current style for larger timepieces and glistens with eye-catching details that proudly announce OMEGA’s presence in the highest echelons of watch making. The calibre 8500/8501 pays tribute to a new and luxurious look for OMEGA’s movements for the third millennium.
Four sapphire glass apertures on the sides of the case, as well as the more traditional sapphire glass case back, fill the heart of the watch with light showcasing the mechanical pedigree and the beautiful details of the rhodium calibre 8500 or rhodium and 18 Ct red gold calibre 8501.
The Hour Vision sets out to be different embodying the new direction of manufacturing for OMEGA without forsaking the classic good looks of the De Ville family. Details such as the four glass openings located on either side of the winding crown, at 9 o’clock and between the lugs of the traditional round De Ville case shape, give the watch a contemporary and sophisticated feel as well as highlighting the technical superiority of the watch, both inside and out. The glass apertures are not just an attractive feature but a technical breakthrough: an entire sapphire case is set into the stainless steel or 18 Ct red gold case so that the watch is still waterproof to 100 metres and shock-resistant up to 5000 G.
On the dial finely honed details show the complexity of workmanship that has gone into every element of this timepiece. The 18 Ct red gold Hour Vision is available either with a brown or silver dial. The stainless steel version is presented with either a black or silver dial. On all the models the most striking feature is the grooved rhodium plated hour track complemented by elegantly faceted solid gold hour markers. Light catches the diamond-polished facets of the hour markers as the central seconds hand sweeps around the dial. The hour and minute hands are both faceted and diamond polished along the length of their sides creating an elegant contrast and play on brushed and polished finishes, in either 18 Ct red gold or 18 Ct white gold, to match the colour of the case. The date window positioned at three o’clock is framed with an applied diamond polished 18 Ct red gold or 18 Ct white gold frame. A discreet minute track runs alongside the outer rim of the dial and the OMEGA logo is applied in either 18 Ct red gold or 18 Ct white gold, depending on the model. The dial is clearly visible through the anti-reflective coating applied to both sides of the sapphire crystal glass.
All the components of the manufacture-made calibers have been created exclusively for OMEGA from inception. Not content with just creating an exclusive manufacture calibre, OMEGA has optimised the precision of their proprietary Co-Axial Escapement and free-sprung balance by improving its design and using a larger (13 lines) sized movement. This officially certified chronometer (COSC) movement has a 60-hour power reserve stored in two barrels in series and is driven by energy from the bi-directional winding rotor. Together they offer excellent stability to the watch’s going rate over long periods and enhance the performance of a truly superlative chronometer. Changing the hour is simplified by a mechanism that allows the hour hand to be adjusted without interrupting the movement of the other two hands, ideal for precise re-setting when traveling through time zones. The “Côtes de Genève” in arabesque, blackened screws and the use of precious metals highlight the refined nature of this new calibre. For all the attention to aesthetics and mechanical superiority, this watch has a strong practical streak and is poised to be the solid platform from which OMEGA will develop future modular complications and additional features.
The De Ville Hour Vision is presented either on a black or brown alligator leather strap that is integrated into the case between the newly designed lugs. The strap features an insert to avoid strain and cracking of the leather at the joint with the lugs and is fastened with a fold-over clasp (in either 18 Ct red gold or stainless steel) ensuring the watch remains securely fastened yet offers maximum comfort to the wearer. The metal bracelets (including a new patented screw and pin system allowing a very easy adjustment) feature an entirely new design and look and, set in the metal bar clasp is a butterfly deployant with an 18 Ct gold polished OMEGA logo.

No 34 - August 2 2007 OMEGA SEAMASTER PLANET OCEAN
Launched in February 2005, the OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean marked the first full-scale use of Omega's proprietary Co-Axial Escapement movement in the Seamaster divers' watch collection and has become a modern classic in its’ own right. Its’ attractive and distinctive recalls that of the first-ever Seamaster 300 metre model and completes a triumvirate modern equivalents of classic OMEGA watches which include the Speedmaster and the Railmaster which like the classic 300m watch, were launched in 1957. Available in two different case sizes (45.5mm and 42 mm in diameter), the Planet Ocean models are readily identified by their bezels, with a choice between classic and highly contemporary styles. Meticulous attention to detail resulted in two slightly different bezel designs, with the larger model taking on a resolutely sporty look and the finer grooves on the smaller model offering a more subtle finish. Fitted to the bezel is an aluminium ring, one third of which is visible in its original brushed surface, the other two thirds in a choice of black or orange - a colour chosen because it is one of the most visible under water. The unidirectional bezel has minute graduations for the first fifteen minutes and numbers for the subsequent ten-minute sectors and a luminous triangular marker at 12 o'clock. Other characteristic indicators that this is a classic divers' watch are the watertight screw-in crown and the helium escape valve. Located at 10 o'clock and embossed with "He", the chemical symbol for helium, the latter allows any helium atoms that may penetrate the watch during compression in a diving bell to escape during decompression, thus avoiding any potential damage to the watch. The excellent water resistance down to 600 metres (2000 feet) is further guaranteed by a screw-in case back. The matt black lacquered dial also offers excellent clarity, thanks to applied luminous hour markers and Arabic numerals at 12, 6 and 9 o'clock, with date window at 3 o'clock. The facetted arrowhead hour and minute hands also have luminous SuperLuminova inserts, and a luminous arrowhead seconds hand with orange tip offers the ultimate visibility down to the last second. Beneath the surface is Omega's calibre 2500 Co-Axial Escapement movement, which delivers a power reserve of 48 hours. This highly-prized movement is decorated with a meticulous rhodium-plated finish of circular graining, Geneva wave decoration and gold-plated engravings and remains tightly sealed behind the stainless-steel case back embossed with the name of the watch, the Omega symbol and a large embossed seahorse - the medallion of the Seamaster line. The OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean is available with an attractively-contoured brushed stainless-steel bracelet which enhances its’ contemporary appearance, yet retains the classic origins of the watch and offers excellent comfort for the wearer. Black rubber straps available on all models offer a sporty and equally robust alternative, whilst matching alligator leather straps (orange with the orange bezel, dark brown with the black bezel) give the watch an entirely different appearance and demonstrates the versatility of the watch Pictures and Text Assistance - omegawatches.com

No 35 - August 3 2007 OMEGA DE VILLE CO-AXIAL CHRONOGRAPH
The launch of the OMEGA De Ville Co-Axial Chronograph marked the first time that OMEGA’s revolutionary Co-Axial escapement was used in a prestige column-wheel chronograph movement. This was the OMEGA calibre 3313, chronometer-certified and self-winding with date, hour, minute and continuous small seconds, 12 hour and 30 minute totalisers and a central chronograph seconds hand. This exceptional movement offers a power reserve of 55 hours and is meticulously-finished with fine circular graining, the decorative Geneva waves, rhodium-plated surfaces, gold-plated engravings and a blued-steel centre screw, all of which are visible through the sapphire crystal case back that has become a hallmark of many OMEGA watches featuring the Co-Axial escapement. Applied facetted hour markers and applied OMEGA symbol and name adorn the domed back, silver or white dials in company with the luminous facetted diamond-polished Alpha hands with blued-steel continuous seconds and chronograph hands on the silver dial. The OMEGA De Ville Co-Axial Chronograph is available in polished 18-carat red or yellow gold, steel with white, black or silver dials and a special St-Moritz Edition. Exuding class and prestige, these exceptional timepieces are further enhanced by the brickwork-effect bracelet, the design of which is based on a 1950s model with rows of 5 links. Matching Alligator straps with push-button deployment clasps are also available and the water resistance is given at 100metres/330feet.

No 36 - August 6 2007 OMEGA DE VILLE X2 BIG DATE
Setting new standards in master watchmaking for the third millennium, Omega’s exclusive Co-Axial Escapement technology now makes its appearance with an imposing square De Ville X2 Big Date Co-Axial chronometer. Available in 18-ct. red gold, this noble metal is a fitting presentation for the superlative De Ville timepiece. The X2 was inspired by the 1951 Cosmic that as watch enthusiasts will remember, was originally housed in a smaller (33mm x 33mm) case. The model was re-launched in 2001 as a limited edition “Museum” piece of which only 1,952 examples were produced. Once again adopting the Cosmic’s distinctive styling, the De Ville X2 Big Date offers a fresh take on this classic to complement the extraordinary heart that beats inside. The X2 Big Date is a manly-sized timepiece (35mm x 35mm) with a twist that uses striking contrasts with panache, producing a bold, new take on luxury watchmaking. The X2’s name refers to the juxtaposition of the audaciously large gold Roman and Arabic numerals on the three-hour markers and in the big date window. Self-assured design gestures such as this, combined with fine workmanship are the key to the X2’s intriguing looks. On the dial the three dimensional, highly polished applied numerals, Omega logo and name are all crafted out of 18-ct red gold. The black dial offsets the white painted “railway” minute track and date numbers. Exemplary of the level of detail on the dial, the ‘Alpha’-styled minute and hour hands are facetted and diamond-polished and like the seconds hand are all fashioned in 18-ct red gold. In the Big Date window, which is framed by an 18-ct red gold border, two overlapping discs ensure easy reading of the date. The contrast of the play of light between the brushed-gold finish and the lustre of the polished edges soften the strong lines of the robust case. Even the lugs are facetted and then polished and brushed to match the finishes of the case and together, create a harmonious whole. The power behind this stunning watch is provided by a self-winding Omega calibre 2610. This officially certified chronometer (COSC) movement has a 48-hour power reserve and is fitted with Omega’s proprietary Co-Axial Escapement and the Omega free-sprung balance. Together they offer excellent stability to the watch’s going rate over long periods and enhance the performance of a truly superlative chronometer. Luxurious finishes such as decorated bridges confirm the prestigious nature of this movement. Even the back of the watch is decorated with a vertically brushed satin finish and a medallion of Chronos, the Greek god of time, and the legend ‘X2 Co-Axial Escapement’. For all the attention to aesthetics and mechanical superiority, this watch has a strong practical streak. The familiar facetted and diamond-polished Alpha hands are coated with a luminous finish to ensure optimum visibility at night. The domed sapphire crystal is scratch-resistant and has a multiple-layer, anti-reflective treatment on the inside of the glass and is water resistant to 50 meters/167ft. Like all De Villes featuring the Co-Axial movement, the X2 Big Date comes with a three-year guarantee. The watch is presented on a high-gloss black alligator leather strap that is integrated into the case between the lugs and a brushed 18-ct red gold fold-over clasp ensures the watch remains securely fastened yet offers maximum comfort to the wearer.

No 39 - August 9 2007 OMEGA OLYMPIC TIMELESS COLLECTION – DE VILLE CO-AXIAL CHRONOGRAPH
OMEGA has an unparalleled history in sports timekeeping. As the first company ever appointed to be Official Timekeeper for all Olympic disciplines, OMEGA supplied 30 chronographs and counters for use at the Olympic Games held in Los Angeles in 1932. Such was the OMEGA timekeepers’ expertise that the brand with the Greek letter was chosen to serve as Official Timekeeper at twenty-one Olympic Games over the course of the 20th century—more than any other company in the history of the games. The OMEGA Olympic Timeless Collection recalls the very beginnings of OMEGA’s timekeeping exploits with a design that harks back to the chronographs produced by the brand in the 1930s and first used at the 1932 Los Angeles Games. Each of the chronographs in the Olympic Timeless Collection features the red OMEGA name and symbol found on the original 1932 chronographs. To further underscore OMEGA’s return to its traditional role at the Olympic Games are the Olympic rings symbol, the OMEGA name and symbol and the inscription “Official Timekeeper”, stamped on the case back. Perhaps the most striking feature of these Olympic Timeless Collection chronographs is one that also represents a remarkable first for OMEGA. An innovative application of nanotechnology has enabled OMEGA to integrate the most famous symbol of the Olympic Games into the design of the Olympic Timeless Collection. On each of the six watches, the five interlocking coloured rings are placed as the counterweight of the central seconds hand. Reproduced with extraordinary precision and fidelity, this historic symbol celebrates the Olympic Games and exemplifies OMEGA’s unparalleled record of innovation in watchmaking and sports timekeeping. DE VILLE CO-AXIAL CHRONOGRAPH The De Ville Co-Axial Chronograph of the OMEGA Olympic Timeless Collection has a white dial, elegantly set off by the thematic design reference to OMEGA and the Olympic Games. The De Ville Co-Axial collection represents the fine art of watchmaking in all respects. The design of the case recalls the popular OMEGA models of the fifties and all models feature the revolutionary OMEGA Co-Axial Escapement, which offers better long-term accuracy. The De Ville Co-Axial Chronograph of the OMEGA Olympic Collection is powered by OMEGA calibre 3313, a self-winding chronograph movement with official chronometer certification and a 55-hour power reserve. Protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on the inside and water-resistant to 100 metres / 330 feet, it is available exclusively with a brown alligator leather strap and stainless-steel foldover clasp. The OMEGA Olympic Timeless Collection will undoubtedly be of immense appeal and interest to collectors of Olympic Games memorabilia, admirers of classic timepieces as well as collectors of OMEGA chronographs in particular.

No 40 - August 10 2007 OMEGA SEAMASTER 300M GMT
The release of the OMEGA Seamaster 300m GMT, model reference 2534.50 celebrated 50 Years of OMEGA’s achievements in sport and adventure in the Seamaster line of watches. This special version of the legendary Seamaster is equipped with COSC-certified, self-winding OMEGA calibre 1128 movement with circular graining, rhodium-plated finish and the decorative Geneva waves. A desirable feature of the Seamaster GMT is the second time zone display. At the same time, the red arrow-tipped 24-hour hand allows the traveller to check the time back home on the 24-hour scale of the turning bezel. The functionality of the watch is enhanced since a third time zone may be displayed by use of the bidirectional turning bezel. In keeping with its’ sibling, the highly successful diver chronometer, the luminous ‘sword’ hands, dial and large hour markers which sit under the domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal offer excellent legibility. Water resistance to 300 meters is offered by the crew-in crown and caseback and unique to the black dial GMT model is the engraved legend which reads 50 YEARS. Available with a stainless steel bracelet, originally issued in either the Bond or Speedmaster-style, it is now only produced with the latter. The lug width of 20mm however allows a rubber or leather strap to be used in conjunction with the watch.
