When did Seiko cross the $1000 barrier? I saw an ad in a magazine today, and the MSRP was nearly $1400. Are they trying to break into the automatic watch market? Is this a new change for them? Never really followed Seiko, and was suprised to see this.

Seiko is coming on strong. Their models in the US are the tip of the iceburg. There are many "japan only" models with Grand Seiko branding that are reportedly equal in fit and finish to the best of the Swiss and German offerings. Forum rules prohibit me from posting links to some of the people that procure these beauties for us in the rest of the world, but let me know if you're interested and I'm PM you with some links. google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.seiko-watch.co.jp%2Fgs%2F&langpair=ja|en&hl=en&ie=UTF8

Seiko have some very interesting offerings on their high end watches, mechanical, hybrid or quartz. All are very good watches although they are mostly sold in Japan only.

Hey, with Bull & Vodka around, it looks like I'm not needed anymore! The man knows Seiko; from Grand Seiko including the Spring Drive, Seiko's watches go beyond the $6,000 price point. Grand Seiko's costing over $3,000 have been around for quite some time... around the mid 1960's.

You got a huge patch to cover with Japan, China, and Russia. Nonetheless, I have had some interest in Seiko lately. I'm considering a diver and the best Seiko divers are Japanese. I've been doing my research, learning about the brands, their manufacture, and distribution. Seiko is almost a universe onto its self!
