Hi, I want to let everyone know that Orient Star watches are now available at www.discountwatchstore.com. You can visit www.discountwatchstore.com/orient-watches to see all the styles we have. We have also added many other new Orient models as well as many new Seiko watches. Discount Watch Store recently became authorized dealer of Pulsar watches and Festina watches (official watch of Le Tour de France bicycle race). For anyone who hasn't visited our site lately, we encourage you to do so as our site has grown substantially this year and added many brands. Currently, we carry 25 watch brands including Accutron watch, Bulova watch, Wittnauer watch, Casio watch, Adee Kaye watch, Corvette watch, Mondaine watch (Official Swiss Railways Watch), and many more. As always, as the exclusive sponsor of this forum, forum members get an extra discount whenever possible, which is pretty much all the time except for times when we have close to zero margin to work with. Just email us at info@discountwatchstore.com before submitting an order and we wil provide you with a special coupon code to apply toward your purchase. Or you can email me directly at zai@discountwatchstore.com. Thanks, Zai

The Orients I've seen (specially the divers) look a LOT like Seikos. Is this because this is Orient is a brand of Seiko, they use some Seiko bits, or just a "Japanese thing"?

The Orients I've seen (specially the divers) look a LOT like Seikos. Is this because this is Orient is a brand of Seiko, they use some Seiko bits, or just a "Japanese thing"? Seiko & Orient are managed as two completely separate entities. The only thing they have in common is that they both make their own in-house movements. The new Orient diver has some resemblance to Seiko's divers. But other than that, I really don't see any similarities in their styles; both seem pretty unique in their own way to me. Besides the new diver, do you have any specific examples where Seiko and Orient look alike?

Indeed, I looked over the lineups on each of their sites. They both seem distinctive enough.
I'm not sure where I got that thought in my head. When I see the divers though, little touches that I thought were "seiko" like the crown at the 4 I hadn't expected to see on the Orient.

I live in Tokyo and one of the joys is being able to try on many different Orient watches. Some look great in the case but terrible on the wrist, some are the other way around...
The big thing is that there are plenty only marketed here. There are some fantastic versions with power reserves and interesting dials, and I am thinking of adding one or two to the collection. Of course, the Orient Star Royals are really the winners, but nice ones are often hard to get hold of.
