<First post in this forum>
Is there any meaningful significance to the "5" in the SEIKO 5 logo?
If there are any previous threads that already address this particular question, maybe someone could provide a link.
Thank you.

Thanks for the "welcome". I suppose I'm a tad embarrassed to admit that I'm still confused. For example, I happen to be wearing this SEIKO (see below) at the moment and AFAIK, it possesses all five of the "5" features, but is not considered a "SEIKO 5". It may not be all that important, however I want to learn more about the SEIKO products. Thanks.

I think those 5 features were the focus for an affordable watch when the series came out. As the amount of model lines within the company grew, other model lines adapted these features as well. I believe the Seiko 5 remains the high quality "economy" line to maintain all these features. Certainly, you will find some models of Grand Seiko to have the same 5 features. The Seiko 5 was the first series of "working man's" watches to include all these features in an affordable watch. This is at least my understanding of this matter, I hope this helps.

Yes, it does. Thank you very much for that explanation.

The Seiko 5 series pretty much offers these 5 features; 1) automatic 2)water resistant 3) shock resistant 4) day 5) date as standard in their series. Some have reported that some models dont have all 5 (exp..day) but the experts can tell us more. Perhaps there are just Feikos out there.

ALSO FIRST POST - HI EVERYONE.
The 5 stands for seconds, minutes, hours, date and day.
This came from the UK sales manager so am confident of its accuracy.
