Well, like many of our pals here, I went Seiko too. Pretty much bullet-proof watches really and I think the light blue of the Orient is just that....too light. Oh Sire, is there a cash equivalent of the prize please? ;D ;D ;D See ya pals ZIN Not usually shaken nor stirred ;D ;D ;D Why, are you thinking about another Omega?

Well, I've handled the Seiko, and it is an amazing watch. One correction: the Seiko is made of titanium, not stainless steel. Which means that the big 44mm Seiko with bracelet probably weighs the same, or less, than the 41mm Orient on strap! The Seiko has really short, stubby, downward curving lugs that allow it to fit well on even a small 6.5" wrist like mine. The Orient's lugs seem much longer-- in fact, lug tip to lug tip, the 41mm Orient may have a longer case than the 44mm Seiko. With both having the same movement, it may all come down to style and taste. The Orient has a cleaner, bigger, more legible dial, but with a (to me) useless tachymeter bezel. The Seiko's smaller, busy dial, big, chunky bezel, and Breitling-esque baroque-ness is either going to be a plus or a deal breaker for some people. As for the pricing, $2,000 is not realistic-- the Orients I've seen have been priced around $1,800 (priced in Yen) while the going price for the Seiko seems to be around $2,800-- a big difference in prices.

Thanks for the correction regarding the case material. Watch-Tanaka of Japan is selling the Flightmaster for only $2,200USD and the Orient Star WZ0031DS Mechanical Chronograph for $1,950USD within Japan (no sales outside of Japan). This poll is just for fun; what's a difference of $250 among friends!

The Orient for me. Pure, in-house breeding and general class. If I were getting a Seiko, it would only be the Issey Miyake chrono modelled on an insect...those things look incredible in real life.

Welcome to our forum! I just want to mention that Seiko is all in-house breeding as well! Regardless, Welcome again and visit often.

I'd pick the seiko, but I don't like the bezel very much... Otherwise, just fine. Good size, good build quality, good legibility. Even in black, the smaller Orient is not appealing to me, but I will say I prefer the tachymeter bezel of the Orient. Most of my other watches have a rotating bezel, so I don't really need one. For timing duties, I could always use the stopwatch function after all...
