in vintage Rolex watches? While I only have one vintage piece currently (a model 6084 from 1951), I am on the look out for for just the right Datejust or Day Date from the 1960s or 70s. My ultimate goal is to have a different model from each decade.

Due to their smaller diameter, I can't seem to pull of a day date or datejust of any vintage, but like Mike, I often find myself looking at Red subs, COMEX divers, and such. I'll also agree with Herb that there are some older (not necessarily vintage, but older) Tudor subs and chronos that I wouldn't mind getting. Not to change the subject but has anyone noticed how the older Tudor Subs (that look like 5513s with a date) have [glow=red,2,300]SKYROCKETED[/glow] in price in the last year? I can remember seeing them all over the place just 2 yrs. ago for 700-800. Now their fetching 1000.00 and up! I was actually looking at buying one about the time I got my Dweller, but couldn't get one at a reasonable price... John

and a lot of people like the tudor rolex quality at Omega prices Definitely a supply and demand issue! I'm not sure that I'd put Tudor in the same place as Omega. Currently, they use pretty standard, unmodified ETA movements (2824 in the subs and hydronauts). The Seamaster starts with a superior movement (2892) and heavily modifies and enhances it to create the Omega 1120. The cases, bracelets, etc. on the older Tudor is all Rolex, but the movements are pretty standard stuff. John

I don't own a vintage piece, but find them very interesting and certainly, for the most part, more affordably priced than the new stuff. I'd love to pick up an oysterdate or an explorer from the 50s.
