If you could pick two Breitling models, and those would be the only watches you will ever own, what would you pick and why?

The Steelfish which I already have and the Headwind which is on my very long short list. Why? Because I just 'em. Karl

I would need a dive watch, they are my fav. Although i have a steelfish, i may end up with a SO. Other than that, i really like the white dialed, tricompax navitimer and the white dialed CWS.

I already have the Steelfish so I'd say... the Avenger Seawolf and some kind of a Navitimer... I need to do more research.

Jeez, hard to pick just two. As an inveterate collector and amateur historian I like to have something new, that I can use every day if I wish, and something older/vintage that shows the company's heritage. Just how I am. Breitling's heritage is most definitely in the aviation, or at least navigation, genre of time pieces. I have the Chrono-Matic which I enjoy wearing and it fits the bill for the aviation thing. I would eventually like to get an older Breitling for my collection. I have Benno Richter's book on Breitling's history and there are some stunning watches in it. Here are three that I particularly like: 1. Top left - "J-Class" (1980's) - a very classy watch. 2. Top right - "Shark" (1980's) - different from their current divers. 3. Bottom - "Duograph" (1952) - just a stunning watch to me. Anybody else like older Breitlings? -Ben

Ben... I like the vintage chrono a whole lot! That is a great looking watch. I actually had a vintage manual Breitling that I picked up on ebay a few years back... and the seller never mentioned that it has an aftermarket crown on it. I gave it to one of my best friends. I need to get it back for a few days to show you a picture of it.

I need to get it back for a few days to show you a picture of it. I'd love to see a photo of it. Richter's book shows many early Breitlings as well as ads and such and it is amazing to me how, other than advancements in case design (waterproof, bracelets etc.) that the features of the chronographs really haven't changed much since the 1930's. I'd love to find a chrono from the 30's or 40's in nice condition. Oh...a cool thing on the "J-Class" photo above. Did you notice that instead of the usual tachymeter information on the dial that it has compass headings? You don't see that on too many watches. I guess that's to keep wearers from constantly getting lost on the golf course. ;D -Ben
