I want to buy a Breitling Emergency. According to US Coastguard, the 121.5 Mhz frequency will be phased out. Does that mean Breitling would re-callibrate the frequency on existing watches ?
Does anyone know ?

Welcome to WTF! I would not worry a lot about the freq being phased out. Just buy the watch if you love it and enjoy it! I spent the better part of my life working for wireless telecom giants, and one thing I can tell you about FCC is that... anything that they phase out takes up to ten years. due to the life/death situation of the device, they would not phase it out while they have a significant amout of devices out there that are in use. What will happen is that over the next few years they will quit selling the old frequency and FCC will monitor the amount of devices in use on the old frequency. Do you remember the good ol' analog phones? When was the last time you can recall a carrier that sold one? 1997? The carriers that own analog networks are not even allowed to START taking down the network until 2010! And it will take years to take that down! Buy in peace, and hope and pray you never have to use that one feature of your Breitling!
