I'd love to subscribe to a good periodical. Anybody have any suggestions?
thanks, Mike

My personal favourite is Watch Time. I'm not to keen on any of the others except for the Wrist Watch Annual. Howver, I've yet fo find Chronos, which our illustrious forum owner writes for, in Barnes and Noble BTW, Welcome to the Breitling forum!

Thanks, Bruce.
I was given the WatchTime 2004 Buyers Guide last year (which I thumb through about every day), but have never seen the magazine. I think I'll go ahead and subscribe...
I did come across an issue of Chronos last month in a lounge at JFK. I was really thrilled to find it since it offered a nice break from the usual business and travel magazines I'm usually stuck with on these long international flights.
I did enjoy John's article (and pictures) on the Steelfish. I've been looking at Omega and Rolex for awhile (enjoying the research, but never actually doing the deed). But I've since become pretty excited about Breitling.
Last week I tried on the SuperOcean (black) at the watch shop in Terminal 4 of Heathrow. I really liked it quite a bit -- but it was larger than I expected and also more polished than I expected.
I'm now just trying to make a decision between the SO and the Seamaster. They definitely have their differences...just can't quite decide what works best for me. Any opinions on these two models would be greatly appreciated.
thanks again, Mike

Bruce, I live near you in Bel Air and haven't been able to find Chronos Magazine anywhere on the east coast. (I checked from Delaware to Florida). I did buy a subscription through Amazon.com. Still waiting for the first issue to arrive.

Wierd isn't it how we can't find them? I've thought about going the amazon route too.

MLW, I've had both and they both have good and bad points. It really depends on what you intend to use them for.
To me, the SO is more of a true tool watch. I'd rather dive in it than the Seamaster, and I've dived with both. The Seamaster is probably more refined looking, but I honestly prefer the looks of the SO.
The SO has a greater depth rating, if you care, and I prefer the recessed helium release valve to the manual one Omega uses.
Really comes down to personal taste. You can't go wrong either way.
BTW, I'm very familiar with Terminal 4 at Heathrow. My wife is even more familiar with it as she goes back and forth a lot more than I. She's a Brit!
One more thought on the SO finish. If you don't like the shiney finish you can have it brush finished. I think a lot of the guys do.

One more thought on the SO finish. If you don't like the shiney finish you can have it brush finished. I think a lot of the guys do. That's a fine idea. One of the things I've never really liked about the SO was the brushed/polished lugs. I like the opposite set up on the Steelfish better though. For my purposes, wearing them working in the ER, I'd prefer the brushed just because my watch gets banged into things and the brushed doesn't show the wear nearly as much. That's why I always preferred the Superocean Pro. Now I have the Chrono Avenger. I'm vaguely considering the new 44mm Steelfish and I suppose I could have the center links brushed out if I wanted. I've still yet to see one in person though. Hopefully they will eventually arrive at the dealers around here. Oh, and on comparing the two watches, it really does go to a personal preference. I've owned both and like them both for different reasons. I agree that the SMP does have a little more refined look and probably does better on the dressier side of things, while the SO (and more so the SOP) has more of a pure tool watch look. John
