Is this model a genuine breitling, i have seen pictures on UK ebay searhing for superocean, and it came up, slightly different from the normal steelfish. It is pictured to be 2000m wr and a newly released model with diffeerent text on the face.

Interesting picture. I wonder if it is a 44 mm Steelfish or just a new depth upgraded Steelfish. It looks so close other than the text under the center of the dial. Karl

Karl I heard from my dealer in NY that it was going to look pretty much exactly the same, so I'm guessing its the larger one. I hadn't heard anything about them coming out with a new depth rating on the existing steelfish. I'm looking forward to seeing yours tomorrow at the WTF lunch gathering. John

hi, i noticed something on the picture on uk ebay and wanted to ask: in the x-plus, the numbers and circles around the luminous dots on the hours and the hour, minute and second hands are black, while in the regular steelfish they are silver. has anyone seen the regular steelfish with the black details or does it only come in silver? personally i prefer the silver. lsp

If you do a search for "steelfish" on the TZ forum, there are some photos of the X-Plus, including a comparison picture next to a SuperOcean. There do indeed seem to be some slight changes in the dial from the regular size Steelfish.
Regarding availability of the Xplus, my local dealer in Washington state only carries this 44mm version. And the two out-of-state ADs I called also only carry the Xplus in their stores. So it seems as this is becoming the standard. Perhaps you could order the smaller version - I don't know.
I liked the size of the Xplus. It's really a substantial and impressive watch. Although it was kind of on the outer edge of my envelope regarding size. Any bigger and I think it would be too big for me.

There have been several times I have photoed my own Steelfish and the fore ground reflects like a mirror on the indices chrome edges giving the impression of black and once red when I was wearing a red baseball cap while taking it's picture. In the closeup pictures I've seen - I'm pretty sure they are silver. Like was said previously, a little hard to tell because of reflections, but I'm pretty sure they aren't black.
