i know i havent posted in a while but i thought id ask u experts some questions. in hopes of getting some decent pictures we are getting a new digital camera for christmas. im looking in the 3-500 dollar range. i will use my camera for close ups of watches and my other hobby, PEZ. i also want to use it for genealogy photos of family and graves for my records. so here are some cameras i came up with. if u have any additons is hould look at please let me know. my big concerns are close-up, lighting issues. and useability (im not a professional photographer but want to be able to take decent photos)
cannon powershot SD550 Fiji Finepix E550 cannon powershot G6 Nikkon coolpix 4300/4500
on a side not the portability of the camera isnt an issue, i dont care if it fits in my pocket or is the size of a toaster.
thanks and Merry Christmas!

Long time no see! If we help you, it means you're obligated to spend more time here on WTF and post photos with your new camera. ;D ;D ;D I'm a Canon guy, and my first professional photo work was done with a Canon G3. So I'd probobly lean toward a G6. However, many on the watch forums swear by the macro capabilities of those Nikons. I'd say buy from a store with a liberal return policy, and try 'em both.
