Greetings all! I'm proud to announce my first professional article outside of watch magazines. In the Sept./Oct. issue of DIGITAL PHOTO PRO I have a photo article/tutorial on how to do macro photography, using watches as the subject. The issue should be on store shelves now.

Well Done John I'll keep a look out for the publication but am uncertain if we see it on these shores - may have to go to a specialist shop in London for that. Hope you're enjoying your holiday weekend. Best WeenZIN

John, Just picked up the article, very nice work. I especially like the part on photoshop, maybe you could do little chip style tutorial What is a polarizer, and what are some common items that can serve the purpose, or are you just referring to the light box? Great photos also Do you still have the green bezel sub? Great work. Adam

The editors at DPP did quite a bit of editing of my article - polarizer is their word not mine. But yes, it refers to the light box. I'm thinking I might actually do a book on macro photography with chapters dedicated to Photoshop techniques. As for the green LV, no - I no longer have it. I kept it for a month and it just didn't get any wrist time - I never truly warmed to the green bezel.

Congratulations John - I'm always on the lookout for info on watch photography. We have some unique challenges to overcome. I recently picked up the issue that you refer to. I enjoyed reading your article. Can you answer one question? You stated in the article that you've tried numerous lenses and have settled on the Canon EF 100mm 2.8. Have you tried any of the other 2.8 lenses with longer focal length - like the Sigma 150mm 2.8? I'm currently debating what lens to use with my new 20D for macro. thanks in advance for your response.

Lyle Hi Lyle, I haven't tried that Sigma, but you might want to do some searchers or ask some questions on the Canon 20D forum on www.dpreview.com - lots of folks over there who can give you their insight. Welcome to WTF!
