My Canon G2 does not have great macro capability so I've been experimenting with screw on close up lenses (diopters) with a Lensmate extension. All of my previous shots have been without the lenses, here's one with them. It limits depth of field and it's a little harder to get the focus right but I think I can show much finer detail. There's no cropping here, just resizing from 2272 x 1704 to 800 x 600. What do you guys think?

Great shot, apart from a little softness.
Sharpening can take care of that....
The focus and depth of field look great

Wow, I'm surprised at how nice that turned out. The crystal is washed out, but you can fix that by changing the angle of the picture.
I will have to experiment with my G2.
Dave.

This is a great photo, considering it's so hard to get good focus with those adapters.
I think a little practice will get you very sharp detail. Good work!

Looks darn good to me! I'm Jealous! No need to be jealous. See my thread entitled "How hard is this?" A simple light tent and a little patience in setting up your shots makes all the difference.

VERY nice shot. By hand manipulating a piece of printer paper above the crystal (like a reflector card) you get rid of that uneven, washed out look on the dial. Good luck!
