O.K., I thought I could try and regulate my mom's invicta diver. It was losing about 5-7 MINUTES a day. So I open it up, move the little lever slightly to the + sign, and come back about an hour later and it had gained about 5 sec. in an hour. so, I nudge the little lever ever so slightly back the other way, and it quit working all together. Did I kill her watch???

Did I kill her watch??? Sounds exactly like what happened when I tried to regulate my 8926. Take a really good look at the balance wheel...can you see any irregularities in the mainspring? Look at the pictures of my Miyota discection article to see what mine looked like. If what I think happened did happen, you'll need to take it to a watch maker....I hear it's an easy fix. John

Yep, that's exactly what it looks like. One of the coils is protruding. Let me ask this. It's a $100 watch. Is it worth the expense of fixing???

It's worth asking....if you find a watch repair shop local to you, simply ask 'em. It should be an easy fix... What MIGHT make it more worthwhile is to have them go ahead and regulate the watch while they have it. John
