It has only happend once to me and that was during a meeting at work when the Air conditioning was on the blink and had to roll up my shirt sleeves. (my watch is normally hidden under my cuff)
I was wearing my Raymond Weil Quartz dress watch with a slim black leather strap and the gold case looked so thin it grabbed the attention.

I have several watches, but I normally wear one of four. A Michael Shumaker 2001 Speedy, a gold Aqua Terra co-axial, an orange PO Chronograph on an orange strap and an Oris Artilier Complication. The only one that gets comments is the PO, but I think it's because it's orange and I live in Knoxville, TN also known as Big Orange Country. It does get a lot of comments, though. Hal

I haven't had either of my omega's very long, but both have gone under the radar. The only watches I've received comments on is my cheap beater Junkers 6434-2

It's true that Omega goes under the radar when it comes to ordinary people. Most people will recognized Rolex, fake or not, before Omega. I had comments on my Orange Seiko but none on my other watches. I did notice some people giving my wrist a second look during the daily train ride.

On most occasions when I've recognised watches on the wrists of others, they are actually taken back when I've commented on their watches. The ones who have been most enthusiastic have been ladies I'm pleased to say. Dunno what that says about the company I keep but I definitely prefer the company of women ;D ;D Y'all have a nice day now pals ZIN Not usually shaken nor stirred ;D ;D ;D

One thing to keep in mind is that those less than honorable folk will notice your watch, but not necessarily mention that they notice it...
THOSE are the ones you need to keep an eye out for.
If you catch one of these possibly less than noble folk, make solid eye contact with them- that will USUALLY diffuse the chance of them trying to take it.
