I can get the stainless steel Speedy LE (the one with the logo and 1957 on the dial) for £1700 from an AD in the Caribbean. I think its part of an American chain that has a branch out here. Is this a good deal, whats the retail on these?
I'm going to be here until at least xmas and figure a nice new speedy LE would look good in my xmas stocking - especially since my PO LE is still at Omega being fixed under warrenty.

Hello there Pal Good to see you. Well it's an LE and while enthusiasts may have wished that Omega did do a little more in respect of the 50th anniversary, this at least is a lot more available than the Co-Axial Limited Series. FYI the UK MSRP is £2150 so you are getting only just a shade over 20% discount. It isn't much but it may be all one can get given that this is a LE. You may consider another AD - please watch out for my PM. Be well now ZIN Not usually shaken nor stirred ;D ;D ;D

Thanks Zin,
It was $4000 and they instantly offered me 15% before I even asked about the price, so maybe they are more flexible.
I'm in the Caribbean so I'm guessing their prices are hiked a bit due to all the US holiday makers with cash on the hip and looking to spend it freely.
They also have a PO 007 LE, considering there were only 5007 made there are an awful lot sitting in shops, almost every AD I've been to in several countries have at least one in the window. I would have thought they'd all be bought up by now but I guess they just don't appeal to everyone.

Hey Zin! LOL! September 28th of this year. One of the ADs in my area has an annual "Swiss Show" and made me a deal "I couldn't refuse" I thought it would go well with it's "older brother",

I have a suggestion my friend. Go into an AD if you haven't done so and have a very close examination of the Speedy first. It's quite a different animal to the PO for instance. It's manually-winding to begin with and comes date-free as you know. Water-resistance is tailored for interstellar use and it will not hack in the same way as an automatic. With an auto, to set or indeed reset the watch all you have to do is wait for the seconds hand to reach the 12 o'clock position and pull out the crown. You can't do that with the Speedy. With it, you have to pull out the crown and apply a little bit of backwards pressure which will bring the hand on the small seconds subdial at 9 o'clock to a stop. With a little backwards movement, you can move the small seconds hand back but don't do this to excess. Then at a given time signal push the crown back in. When I first bought my Speedy, I nearly pulled my hair out in attempting this. Now of course I scarcely need to do this. I'm not saying of this is a problem. It's just different and the joys of Speedy Pro ownership far outweighs its' idiosyncracies. Be well pal ZIN Not usually shaken nor stirred ;D ;D ;D

Mike, I remember you talking about the show but never remembered you buying that. As Zin knows I have a bit of a Speedy bug at the moment so it might have been a case of,I never noticed it as I had no Speedy interest. Nice watch, great shot. Aaron

Hi all I also was made "an offer I couldn't refuse" on Swiss Watch Day at the AD. I didn't think it would happen but the 50th LE Speedy has instantly become my favorite watch. My Coaxial SMP is having a hard time getting any wrist work. I really love that watch and movement. The guys here on WTF got me through my initial ignorance on how to use a non hacking movement. What a magnificent machine! Looking at the full moon last night I couldn't help thinking about the Speedy and it's place in history. Mike
