lara Croft wore the T-touch in Tomb Raider, (just saw bits of it recently), so I doubt Bond would wear that (but a decent choice).
Personally, I'm of the mind set that a dead battery in the middle of nowhere is bad news. At least a mechanical watch will still work in 10 years... In either case, a broken watch is a broken watch, and I have broken enough higher-end quartz watches to know that they are NOT more duarble than a quality mechanical one.
Plus there's the dialogue with Vesper Lind:
"... with your easy smiles and expensive watches; Rolex?" "Omega" "Beautiful."
Perhaps an Oris?

I think they'd probably revert to Rolex, but i agree that Breitling is next on the list in terms of brand status - and for that reason can't see them going to less-expensive brands.
They chose Seiko in the 70s because they were state of the art digitals, and I imagine not cheap at the time. i read somewhere that the L.A.L.D Pulsar in 1973 cost megabucks as it was the first LED watch.
I also think that the 'real' 007 would go for a quartz because:-
1. more accurate and reliable (unless bathed in a Goldeneye style electro-magnetic pulse - but hey, if that happens telling the time is probably the least of your worries)
2. you can swing a golf club without the mechanism breaking (as some fear)
3. if you're laid up in hospital for days (see end of Casino Royael) your watch is still going when you come back to it.
4. On a civil servant's salary, could you really afford a £1,600 watch? Q department would give him a Ford car (let's face it) and let him clothe himself.
Thank heavens for Movieland!
