I recently bought a grey market watch from a very reputable company. I sent Omega Customer Service the serial number under the assumption that I was buying the watch from an acquaintance and here is the response I got:
Hi, The style number is an active style but when I enter in the serial number it is not coming up in my system. Therefore I cannot say it is authentic. You can take it to a authorized Omega dealer and let them look at it for you before you purchase the watch. Thank you.
Does this necessarily mean the watch is a fake? Or are there other reasons the serial number would not come up? The watch came with everything except the international warranty card.

I'd imagine SN's aren't entered into Omega's system until they're registered via AD sending in customer purchase info or customer returning the warranty registration card). As a new gray market has never been registered, I doubt it would be in their system until they do a service on it..
Mine wasn't registered either, until I sent it in for non-warranty work. Now it is...

who did you ask, Bienne? they should know. if you ask Omega New Jersey and it was not meant for USA purchase, they will not know. when i asked about one from NJ, they found it had never been inventoried for or to the USA market. Bienne however told me exactly where the watch was sent originally.. it was Buenos Aires actually... see what i mean? but if you got that info from Bienne, i might go to an AD and let them take a look. diver88 ;D

The more stories I hear about NJ, the more I think it should be shut down, or completely reorganized and refreshed with new personnel.

Thanks, everybody for the replies. I ended up returning this watch and will get it from a local AD for about $225 more. Either that or I saw he had the PO 2201.50 (I believe that's the model # of the 42mm) for about $2400. Hmm, decisions, decisions.

Mr 613 $2400 for a 42mm PO isn't too bad considering the AD is local. Wish you well with your decision-making. Enjoy your Sunday ZIN Not usually shaken nor stirred ;D ;D ;D
