I've been searching different sites to find a suitable leather strap and deployment clasp for the new Speedmaster and I'm coming up empty. Are there any quality straps and clasps that you are familiar with besides the factory Omega straps? Is it advisable to change the strap yourself or should it be done by a watch person? Mike

Hey Mike You could try The Watch Prince, one of our sponsors who has a large range of straps and instructions on the do-it-yourself route. Be well pal ZIN Not usually shaken nor stirred ;D ;D ;D

The major tool you need when changing or removing the bracelet for the first few times is bucketfuls of patience.

Oh pal Do remember to have tape. It would be advisable to tape up the exposed parts of the watch and bracelet. Needless to say, I've never attempted surgery on any of my watches.......well, not since I began to appreciate them anyway. Y'all be well now ZIN Not usually shaken nor stirred ;D ;D ;D

Strange that you would post this. I had a conversation with my favorite AD yesterday and thanked him for pointing me toward the Hirsch straps for use with the Omega deployant. He said he had just ordered an Omega strap for a customer that sold last year for around $200 and now costs over $400! Makes me appreciate a $53 Hirsch Medici even more: It's bad enough that the Omega deployant is $200 but it is so much more comfortable than other after-market versions. Fr. John+

Exactly what I've had in mind John! I saw the Hirsch straps on WatchPrince.com but I really love that Omega clasp. I guess that has to be bought from Omega or somebody who reliably deals with used bits. Mike

Or through the pre-loved channel Mike. You'll need to ascertain that the third party straps will fit the Omega deployment clasp though. I think the twin-button, quick release type is sooooo sexy. Be well now pal ZIN Not usually shaken nor stirred ;D ;D ;D

Mike I've tried most all of the after-market deployants and the Omega fits my wrist perfectly. I just ordered another 18mm Omega deployant from my favorite AD. He has them in stock. They can get expensive elsewhere. Fr. John+

John My Speedy has a 20mm attachment at the case. Does the Omega deployment clasp need a a specific width at the end of the strap? Mike

Yes, the Hirsch straps narrow from 20mm at the lugs to 18mm at the clasp.
The Omega clasp required is the 18mm. (Omega also makes a 16mm for narrower straps.)
