My Seamaster Gents watch is very nice but the clasp on the bracelet scratches to easily on table tops or such. I have already had it buffed out once by the jeweler and its already scratched. My various Seikos and Citizens are much more scratch resistant.

Clasp scratches are a common complaint, but the good news is, it couldn't be any easier to buff the scratches out yourself. If you check out my SMP review at www.rolexreferencepage.com/seamaster/smp.html you'll see some instructions at the end of the review on how to buff out the clasp using Scotch Brite pads commonly found at grocery stores. Best, John

John, I have tried that on my Seamaster and the scratches disappear...I have had mine for several years and it still looks great.

John, I have tried that on my Seamaster and the scratches disappear...I have had mine for several years and it still looks great. It's amazing to me how such a low cost, low time (takes maybe a minute) solution is so effective. In my experience, the Seamaster bracelets hold up very well, and are pretty scratch resistant. So, by polishing the clasp every 3-6 months, you can keep the watch looking brand new.
