Does anyone have any idea how much the rolex reps make that call on all the stores in there area. I am just curious. Also, does anyone have an idea what it takes to get that job. Thanks!

You know, I'd do the job (on the side of course) just to be paid in Rolex watches...........

I joked once to my AD that i would love to work there, 'We couldn't afford to keep you!' he retorted. :-)

Really?? They ought to be willing to pay a premium for all that specialized knowledge about Rolex you have amassed which is presently rattling around in your head...

It's rattling around alright, most of my knowledge has come from WTF contributors, the rest i guess you just pick up as you go. My AD is great but any questions or concerns i have, i come here first! :-)

I have seen advertisements for jewelers who were ADs. Although salary was not discussed, the ads did say minimum 5 years sales experience in the 'luxury' market. Comission was mentioned; but, not the rates associated with it.

Not quite on the same subject but i did hear a staff member at my AD say something about 30% staff discount. The COSC Non-Date Sub which cost me £2510 would therefore cost them £1757. The retail store where i work allow staff sales at trade + VAT (17.5%) so i'm thinking that the Rolex mark-up in the UK is 30-40% if they work on similiar figures. Interesting no? :-)

The COSC Non-Date Sub which cost me £2510 would therefore cost them £1757. :-) One of the AD's I talk to frequently was telling me about the Rolex discounts they get and said about the same thing. Only difference I was told is that 1) you have to be working there at least 1 year full-time to get the 30% discount 2) it's a one time shot. Once you get one 30% off that's it, no more at that discount (though they can get a lesser discount on 1 watch per year) and 3) they must get it directly from Rolex. The dealer cannot sell from their inventory. It's also not available on all the models (such as the SS Daytona for example). I believe he said they also engrave the owners name into the watch as it's specifically stated it's for personal use (not suposed to sell for a certain amount of time). Still, not bad....

Engrave the name? I assume it is the caseback?

Engrave the name? I assume it is the caseback? Yes, He said it's engraved on the case back - the actual back of the case - not the caseback cover that is replaceable. This is to keep people from flipping them..
