While I think that all the ancillary goods are sort of cool, John's right. People complained, and they took them away.
Remember, you're paying all the money for the watch, not the packaging, or the fancy booklet, or the anchor, or a pen or scarf or whatever... I don't think I've ever heard of missing extras as a dealbreaker. Rather, we should just concentrate our energies on beating down prices rather than missing the extras...

Some valid points about the extras by John and Idriveanm5; but, the vintage parts still kills me. BTW, what happens if someone has a watch from 1950 or 1960 and Rolex will not service? Are there reputable 3rd parties that will service?

There are many, many reputable 3rd parties willing and able to service Rolex watches of any age...some are even Forum Sponsors here on the Rolex Forum!

Yeah, John's right. The real trick though when servicing through a 3rd party is getting a guarantee of official Rolex parts. If that doesn't matter to you, then no foul. But, finding a skilled 3rd party watchmaker that can guarantee official Rolex service parts is a significant find.

But, finding a skilled 3rd party watchmaker that can guarantee official Rolex service parts is a significant find. I tend to believe that, by necessity, this issue will become less over time. If someone reverse engineered a Rolex Caliber 1570 for example, and was able to manufacture every gear, rachet, and spring to the exact manufacturer specifications, what will it matter if it came from Rolex as long as it holds tollerances? It's quite conceivable that a "modern" 1570 would perform better than the original, thanks to advances in manufacturing technology. Food for thought....

Like a classic car, grandfather clock, or any other collectible, the more original parts the better IMHO.

BTW, what forum sponsor does vintage work for Rolex? A buddy of mine just got his Dad's DJ from decades ago, and it needs a new bracelet, and will need a good cleaning.

Thank you so much for your kind Help. Hi - I'm not familiar with "flying tigers" but this is the Rolex Forum. We do have a Japanese and Asian watch forum here that would be of more interest to you I believe. jholbrook.proboards33.com/index.cgi?board=japaneseBest,
