Hey everyone,
I was in the local Rolex store yesterday for a watch event & they had all 4 of the Cellini Prince's in stock. So of course just had to look at them.
I was pleasantly impressed with them, at least to some extent. First, while they all look to be identically sized cases in pictures, they aren't. The Rose Gold is the smaller of the sizes and the black dialed white gold being the largest.
The rose gold is a nice watch, but as it's thinner & smaller wasn't for me. I really liked the black dialed white gold model. Size was perfect on the wrist. Display back was a nice touch, but really too small to be of much value. The weight was impressive, especially since it was on a strap. MUCH heavier than I expected. I'm beginning to see the draw some peole have with white gold..
The straps aren't the same either. The black dialed white gold model's strap was about twice the thickness of the rose gold one (another reason I liked it).
Deployment clasp was really nice. One thing I don't like is the length of the straps. The strap on the white gold fit, but barely. The rose gold was too tight. Of course you can't order the watch with a longer strap (well, technically you can but they'll still charge you for the small strap too), so you have to order the strap separately. So, you pay for the watch & a strap you cannot use and immediately shell out another $800 or so for a strap you can wear. That's a turn-off to me, but that's Rolex.
But again, I was very impressed with the model. Very clean, classic lines on it too. I didn't think I'd like it, but I was somewhat tempted (no discount, so I won't say seriously tempted). I don't know if it'll end up on my list of dress watches to pick from, but it'll be looked at more closely!
Again, the pictures don't do this justice, but heres the stock picture from Rolex. com. Hopefully I'll be back up there later today or tomorrow & will get a wrist shot of it on.
