Hi all. I normally post next door but wanting some thoughts on this:
I'm thinking of getting my dad a Seiko 5 for an everyday wearer. He's been mentioning this watch 'coz he owned one before and he likes the classic dressy style of it. He ends up not wearing a watch somedays 'coz he wouldn't wear his Explorer II everyday. What do guys think about this line of watches? Do they sell it here in US? I havn't seen them in several dealers. I went to an online store where Mr. Boscoe got his Seiko and can't find any Seiko 5's there. Pivtures pls if anybody owns it.
Thanks in advance all your thoughts in this matter.

Seiko 5's can be had anywhere in the U.S. They are fine watches with the exception of the folded links.

Seiko 5 have a number of models. All make good buys and are excellent daily watches. If you get the opportunity check out their Seiko 5 Superior, Seiko 5 Sports and Seiko 5 Criteria range. Some of them are made in Japan and are more difficult to source. All the best!

They are Seiko's bottom end, but very reliable and last for decades without service. They can not be hand wound or hacked; but incredible values. I have many Seiko watches, but only two Seiko 5's:

@knightwatchman i have the same watch in green the second pic but it keeps horrible time +2minutes a day. And the crystal scratched up real quick i was going to send it to Seiko to get service but the service cost more than the watch.

Nice watches Eric Is the first one gold-tone, or does it just shows like that in the pic? Let me put it this way, my arm is not really sun-burnt; the color balance is just way off! ;D The dial is pearl white with regular stainless steel case. Both watches stay within +20 seconds per day. Not bad for sub-$100 automatics.
