I apologize if this is the wrong place to put this, however, I recently acquired this Soviet era watch to which I am unable to identify the manufacturing year. I have placed it somewhere between 1970-1992 but I cannot narrow it down any further than that, any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated. Also, it is worth noting that this is a vintage windup movement with a built in compass.

I dont know if this will help, but I was once told by a Russian friend that this watch was a rare find.

Hello Soviet, and welcome to our forum! This is certainly the right place to post about any watch that is Japanese, Chinese or Russian in origin. See the link below: Welcome All! The Change is Here!Raketa is well known for their 24 hour watches- Military Style- And Soviet Symbol watches- [glow=red,2,300] All pics by RUgift[/glow] I have not seen your exact model, so maybe it is a rear find. The best person here to ask is Bestak. His collection of Soviet watches is extensive! I hope you visit and post often; I would love to see what other watches are in your collection. Welcome again.

Thanks for the warm welcome, its great to be here on these forums. Thus far my collection is fairly new, I acquired that piece from a friend about two months ago, ever since then I have had an interest in Russian watches(Vostok, Poljot, and Raketa). Unfortunately my collection is still quite new, at the moment this is the only other piece I have.

Where may I ask did you acquire your collection from? Also, since I was unable to find my watch through any of the search engines I visited ebay to see if they had any other Soviet era watches. Thats when I stumbled accross this little gem: [glow=red,2,300] Pics by rusales[/glow] Its the exact same watch I have, its in worse condition, and I paid slighty more for mine. I can now confirm that this was a Soviet propoganda watch, 18 jewel mechanical movement watch. This seller places his watch around the same time I would have dated mine, although I wish I knew the exact year. Soviet, I had to remove your link because we cannot direct link to live auctions or sellers who are not sponsors of our forum. You can, however, send seller's links to other members by PM or e-mail. Thank you for your understanding. I borrowed the seller's pics with credit instead! ;D I will send you a PM of my source for Russian watches when I get a chance. Time for bed now!

I forgot to add, I was able to remove the band so I could see the production number on the back(057). The number on the back of the watch selling on ebay is designated 440.
