Hey Guys, I've had my eyes on both the SKX033 and 031 for quite some time. I miss having a 7S26 in the stable. I'm thinking about buying one for myself, and maybe one for my son....a couple of questions: The steel oyster-like bracelet on these looks pretty bad...is it? Does anyone have some photos of what either of these would look like with the OM bracelet? My thought is to buy them on the rubber diver straps and then buy OM or aftermarket oyster bracelets. How's the lume? As good as the OM? It looks like the markers and hands have roughly the same surface area. Thanks for your help!

How's the lume? As good as the OM? It looks like the markers and hands have roughly the same surface area. Thanks for your help! I really like mine and wear it the most, it represents a tremendous "bang for my buck". I wear this thing to work every day, because my work environment is outside and a bit hazardous. This is also my work outside in the yard and general "beater". I've had this one for about 6 months and haven't had any problems with it. The bracelet is lightweight and I don't mind it at all. It has been very resistant to showing scratches (excluding the clasp). This thing is a piece of cake to size. The only bracelet's I can compare it to are from my SMP's and of course those bracelets are very solid and heavy. I don't have much experience with a Rolex bracelet to compare it to....Send me one of yours and I'll give you a full write up. You'll have to clarify what "OM" means for me ;D The lume is good, but not as good as the SMP's. I've been really impressed with the crystal, it doesn't show any hint of damage. LMK if I can answer any other questions or take any more pictures. Jeff

Hey Jeff! Thanks for the info and photos. The OM is short for Seiko's Orange Monster - the last Seiko Automatic I've owned. The lume on the OM actually rivals that of the sword hand SMPs so I wondered how the lume was on these models.

Just got my SKX031 a few weeks ago but I was not too thrilled with the folded link bracelet it came with. I first experimented with a rubber aftermarket strap, but later came across a president style original Seiko bracelet on the bay which I picked up. Since this bracelet is intended for the larger 007 size watch (which requires the fat spring bars, I had a little problem fitting it to the 40mm dia 031 (which uses std bars). I ended up cutting the ends of a couple of fat spring bars and using these as sleeves over the standard 22 mm spring bars. It's actually a perfect fit. As you can see I still need to work on the end links to get a better fit but I really like the way this bracelet looks on the watch. The end rows are solid but the center row are formed flat links. This bracelet has quite a bit of heft to it making it feel quite substantial and matches the watch perfectly. This is becoming my favorite weekend watch because of its ruggedness, but as I mentioned in another post it still runs a little fast (around +10-12/day) which seem typical of 7S26s. By the way, the lume is not that great but is quite acceptable for me.

Nice job on that bracelet conversion! Thanks for the advice...I think I'll keep looking for the right Seiko "beater" for me....your comments on the lume and bracelet make me doubt I'd be happy with this particular model.

John....personally I'd go for the SKX007 or SKX009. You get 200m vs 100m water resistance...not to mention beefier springpins, bracelet & case. My 009 has what I believe to be the same bracelet as jasman put on his 031. It's not a bad bracelet, but I still prefer them on the Nato style straps. I've been pleased with the lume. Not sure if it's different from the other Seikos. It's almost on par with my Seamasters. I'll have to snap a lume shot sometime for you. ;D I don't think an OM/BM bracelet would look very good on these or the 031/033. The OM/BM bracelet is straight at the lugs so there'd be an ugly gap.
