I just got my second Seiko Automatic recently (this one is an SKX031 with a 7S26 movement) and observed it to run about +12 to 14 secs/day. This one appears to run similar to my earlier Seiko 5 military style watch, also using the same movement.
I heard that Seiko Autos always run fast. I just wondered what's the general consensus.
Also does anyone know the proper procedure to regulate the 7S26 movement?

My experience with any non-COSC watch is that it runs fast. I've had 4 Seiko divers and they all ran about +15 out of the box.
I've regulated 3 7S26 movements and they're a real PITA. Instead of a screwhead you turn to adjust it like the ETAs, there is a tab that you have to nudge with something like a toothpick. It usually takes 4-5 tries before you get it set. I got those 3 Seikos to +2 or better though. Same as the Miyota movement found in the Invictas.

I've had (and have) numerous Seiko Divers with movements ranging from the 6309, 7002, and the current 7S26 and they all run fast when new or recently serviced. Many run as fast as 30 sec/day but most I've had are in the 15-20 sec range. I've never regulated one since I wear so many watches that the error never builds up enough to bother me.

I just checked my Seiko 5 last night and its at +7. I dont wear the same watch more than 1-2 days max so it doesnt bother me. It would only bother me if it was en expensive watch
