So what do you guys think of the new spring drive? I read the article on TZ and also in watchtime, it sounds pretty amazing to me, I would love to have one but 3k is a little steep, hopefully in time the price will come down. I cant wait to see the spring drive "monster" ;D here is a link to the seiko press release people.timezone.com/mdisher/seiko/seikosdprimg1.htm

That spring drive is incredible. I especially like the one you posted. Agreed the price is pretty steep. When you can get a Datejust or Aqua Terra for that general price range, I just don't see the Seiko being a big seller....at least in the US.
At about a grand, I'd be more interested.

I like that on too Warren.....except for that allen head screw stuck in the middle of the endlink. Finally a diver with a PR meter.

Wow that one is very nice I think after all of the hype wears off the prices will go down. I would really consider that watch at $1000. Hopefully seiko will open up some more markets in the US. i saw an article in watchtime that said seiko spends almost 10 million in US advertising, thats 5th overall and twice as much as OMEGA, funny thing is a barely see their advertisements or even their watches for that matter.

i agree that the spring drive mnechanism is a great little mechanical wonder, but at these prices.. i would find it very difficult to believe that they would make muhc headway in any market! mamas

Those allen heads are strange. I thought at first they were for quick changing a bracelet or strap. They're actually to facilitate removing the bezel.

Wow! That's a really a nice looking watch! You know, I kinda like the allen heads screws in the end links. Gives it a distinctive feature that other watches of the "dive genre" don't have. Really makes it look like a work watch. But I agree that it seems a bit pricey at this point. Neat. -Ben

I won't buy at 3K but think about this IMHO if Rolex had invented this and remember the seikos are all hand made it would cost imo 20K or more this is a major step in our life in watch making just again imo whata I know thou ... )))
