Well, I'm getting there.. slowly...
I have two Omegas now, so the theory is that I should get rid of one to finance comething else. But I really like it!
I'm also waiting for Rolex to make the right watch for me. I have yet to try the Yachtmaster II but it sounds like it might be the right size. Now if they just make the sub that size, I think I might finally be able to buy a Rolex! I don't like the complicated movement of the YM II- a bit of a "simple watch" kick lately...
So, I have to go back to saving money again, the old fashioned way...
Let's add Sinn to the list, and Fortis to cover the 'lower price' end of the spectrum.

and for my wife, daughter, son-in-law, sister, brother-in-law and mother all of whom have and wear the brand. Most of those watches are of the SuperQuartz variety but only one of mine is. They're all chrono's and whichever one I happen to be wearing at the time is my favorite. I have other watches but they sit in a drawer gathering dust. Yes, I'm a pilot and I like the "busy" but more than that I like the "presence" of a Breitling. Build Quality, accuracy and toughness are factors of course but I take them for granted I suppose. Anyway, here they are... Cheers, Ron

It's hard to answer the question posed in this thread "Why don't Breitlings generate passion?" I suspect it's because they don't have the 'hype' factor of the rolex, omega, even tag. Those watches suffer from a huge image factor "look at me, I'm wearing a rolex!" I know this is not fair on the watches, they are incredibly well made, incredibly good looking, but so many of the people who wear them, wear them because they ARE a rolex, omega etc. The quality is secondary, image is everything. I believe the Breitling tag line says it all "Instruments for Professionals." About as exciting as buying a hammer, compared to, say, Tag's "What are you made of" with Uma Thurmann & Brad Pitt enticing you to be just like them.... The thing is, Breitling owner's appreciate the quality of build and professional workmanship of the products & don't need hype or image to make the decision. This possibly deters the fashionistas from snatching them up so they too can be like Brad, Uma & the other beautiful people (and maybe makes Breitling's prices more realistic/better value for money perhaps?). I think having John Travolta as a celebrity spokesperson for Breitling may be about as adventurous as Breitling can get - and J.T is probably a pilot first & foremost before an actor, he's just much better known as the latter. Anyway, that's a couple of thoughts from my perspective - and after all that, I have a Tag, and would love to add a Rolex & Omega to the small collection. What does that make me.... who knows? If nothing else, I am passionate about my Breitling, and if I'm one of a very few in this position - who cares ;D

Hey Muttley, great comments.. I agree, the Breitling PR machine really seems to focus on 'the professionals'. I bet you'd be hard pressed to find 7 or even 8 out of 10 people off the street that know what a Breitling is. On the flip side though, I bet you wouldn't find 2 out of 10 pilots who DON'T know what a Breitling is.
And your comments on JT being a pilot first actor second is right on. I believe he's even said that in interviews before (of course, the latter lets him afford the former ;D ). Anyone who has a control-tower house, 2 covered jetways, his own baggage cart, his own 707 & private taxiway - yea, I'd say he's pretty serious about his flying.... ;D ;D ;D
John did an interview with him last year that was pretty cool. I'll see if I can dig up the archive on that...
