Look at the posts here. No passion. No drama. No complaining. Guess they're perfect. Or boring. Tell me your best Breitling story. Or your worst.

Breitlings are very respected watches among the watch people. For my tastes the dials are a bit too busy but of course it's a taste thing... There are lots of Breitling fans... shame that they haven't found their way over here. It's always a mystery why some brands attract some people... and others don't feel the same way. Ebel and Zenith are my favourite brands but it's rare to see people talking about them. Omega and Rolex are so overwhelmingly popular among the watch circles. Sometimes it's a bit boring (although I own and love watches from both brands). My favourite Breitlings are the Seafish and the blue Two-Tone Navitimer. Japanese watches like Citizen and Seiko have their own fans, Swatch has their own fans and even Invicta has their own Internet fan circles. Strange that Breitling doesn't.

With regard to passion I can say in all honesty, that the Breitling brand is the only one that has made me go WOW!!! when i first saw one in an ADs window, then straped one to my wrist, I love them for what they are and no doubt why others don't!, I have other brands and pieces which others may consider better but just don't stir me the same and generate that "Passion"

That yellow dial is very unique. I've seen that watch on someone... somewhere and it definitely creates a "wow!" response like you said.

Love the yellow dial. Very cheery. I read in Europa Star today, Breitling is closing the gap with Rolex on the other side of the pond. Of course, that's in relative terms. Rolex is still the elephant in the room. I have a Navitimer and a new (for me) Wings auto. Both are very handsome and well made. The Wings is a bit tiny by modern standards, but I enjoy it. For me, part of the fun with watch collecting is talking with other collectors. I have a blast on the Invicta forum because the watches, the company and its president are so visible. Gives you lots to chat about. Love 'em or hate 'em, it's a riot. Breitling just doesn't seem to inspire that. Here or elsewhere on the net. Which is bemusing since they are a good/excellent watch. Maybe I'm going to have to subject my new Wings to a bizarre torture test to see if that can stir things up.

Is there a lack of passion for Breitling? You might be right, but I do see a lot of people have them. You don't hear them complain about them, which is a good thing, showing that quality control is high and the watches perform well. I haven't owned one yet but am looking at the Superocean. We'll see when I can get one.

It is definitely a matter of taste. I cannot see myself owning one of the Navitimers (dial is too busy for me) or one of the huge (over 42mm dia) ones because of my small wrists. Although I'd love to have one of the simpler chronographs.
I have my Colt GMT now for 6-7 months and this thing just impresses me everytime I wear it or "play" with it. The watch just exudes quality, every piece and part is so well made, and so nice to look at, it can go head to head with just about any brand. It also runs very accurate at about +2 secs. per day.
Ironically, one thing I dont like is that the shiny bracelet gets scratched real easy. If that is the only penalty, I can live with it. By the way I just noticed that the center (brushed) links are slightly raised from the outer links on the Pilot bracelet that these center links seem to take more of the scratches. Quite clever and interesting that it was designed that way.
I cannot contribute much to the passion thing since I just plain love watches of different brands. Each of my watches seem to offer something unique I like about them.

I like them enough to own two, but I must confess they don't stir my soul. I enjoy Invicta much more. I like the styles and I like the fact that it's so easy to poke fun at the company. If Invicta were stogy, like Jacques Lemans or even Breitling, I wouldn't enjoy it so much. That said, I think both Breitling and Jacques Lemans make better watches. And I am quite taken by that Seiko you posted.

i agree that the dials can be 'too busy" IF you don not need all that extra stuff, get a cockpit chronometer! big date, simple, nice!

I have looked at various models from time to time in the past, but not until the new Heritage model have I been inspired to purchase one (I haven't yet). They always struck me as very busy watches as has been mentioned before. If I was a pilot, and needed the functions of the watch, then fine. But I'm not, and I think even as a pilot, you could have all that and more in your PDA with a much sleeker presentation and no confusion. I think every serious collector "needs" one in their collection. They are iconic and of very high quality and accuracy. I have NEVER heard of one to break or fail, but that may be because they are a bit less popular than the Rolex or Omega, which, by the way, also belong in any serious collectors stable. And, to add to the early comment, I agree that Zenith are just stunningly beautiful watches, and I'd like to add IWC to the foray of less popular brands. There clean pilot watches are VERY nice... So, I agree they are of the highest quality, easliy going head to head with anything out there, and taking a beating while looking good doing it. Not bad at all.

well talktime, you've named every watch I think should be in anyones 'perfect' collection.. Rolex, Breitling, Omega, IWC and maybe Zenith.. Now that would be a great & complete collection IMO...
