What camera(s) would you recomend in the $250 to $350 range?
Looking for good value with flexible features.

Hello Friend Without a doubt the Canon Powershot A640 and not only because I have one. It has 10MP, a vari-angle LCD screen, macro-capability of 1cm, 4x optical zoom and uses AA batteries which mean that if you've forgotten to pack an extra set of rechargeables, there's bound to be a shop on every street that carries them. It's also very frugal on the juice and if you find that you're running out, you can always shoot via the optical viewfinder. It's such good value that you could get a table tripod to help with low-light lume shots. www.cameralabs.com/reviews/CanonA640/index.shtmlwww.dpreview.com/reviews/canona640/page16.aspYou could also try this little exercise - www.myproductadvisor.com/mpa/camera/inputSummary.doGood hunting and Best WIShes ZIN Not shaken and never stirred ;D ;D ;D

Hey Fred A couple of years back I'd have gone for the Lumix ( Panasonic ). Amazing that they have Leica glass. Need to be careful though since there is Leica and there is Leica, I'm sad to report. When it's good, it's in a class of its' own. Otherwise, you wonder why you or they infact ever bothered. I don't think it's a coincidence that just about every major review puts Canon ahead in this class. Keep well pal ZIN Not usually shaken nor stirred ;D ;D ;D

I think the SD900 like the one Rick has is cool-looking. However now that I have those controls on mine, I can't go back to that type of camera anymore. Indeed I'm dreaming of an SLR - the camera, not the Mercedes. The Merc is a waste of money. Think of the number of Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8s I could buy for that!!! Have a good weekend pal ZIN Not usually shaken nor stirred ;D ;D ;D

Not to stray too far away, the most reliable and most complete budget car i've ever driven was a 1999 jeep cherokee sport. Beautiful and it went 10 months without an oil change and impressively the oil was almost as new! I miss that car...although i dont miss its gas mileage.

I'll second both Zin's reference to a Canon and pacifiChrono on Steve's digicams. Canon is hard to beat for quality, and Steve's reviews are unbiased and honest. Good luck in camera hunting anyway. Cheers Alex
