Why are the crowns of watches unscrewed when being photographed?

i am just guessing since i havent done this yet, but i think it is to stop them at a "posing" position for example 10:10:40 so you can see all the important stuff on the dial. crown out, stopped where you want it. i am just guessing ;D diver88

Yup That's right Terry Well, it's either that or that in pulling out the crown, one fills more of the frame. ;D ;D ;D What? Don't believe me, do you? Hey pal, I need to advice that I am a skolarship student at the EBNWKS and we major in horror :-/logikal photography. Cheers pals ZIN

Terry There's nothing wrong with resetting your watch for daylight saving if you make a note of the variation for the day. So your test will simply continue as a sort of Part 2 if you like. Additionally if you set up your props on advance, meaning ham sandwich, crackers, bread sticks, half-eaten muffins and American limes ala Boscoe, you'll be able to take a shot, indeed, two or three between just before 10.40 and 10.45 ....And, and you'll also capture the fleeting nature of time in showing some movement of the second hand. Do that and you'll possibly win a skolarship to the EBNWKS like I did OK pal ;D ;D ;D ZIN

Ha ha, that’s funny, I thought I was the only one. I've been wearing my new Alpha "Tourbillon" for 8 days now and checking every day to see how fast/slow it is running. It has a hacking movement so I didn't want to reset it for day light savings time because it will screw up my test. My wife thinks I'm an idiot. ;D ;D ;D The watch is running better that any of my other autos. I can’t believe it. After 4 days, with nighttime positioning of dial up, it was plus 16 seconds (not bad that's +4 a day). I changed the nighttime position to see it that would make a difference and started leaving it with the crown up. Here’s the unbelievable part, after 4 more days I’m still at +16 seconds. That a gain/loss of 0 seconds over 4 days. Sapphire crystal and well within COSC specs for $71. How do they do it? bpajwhite

;D Zin thats really all so complicated, I'm afraid I'll never get that skolarship. and i agree Mr White, I'm not changing mine until after the test either. didn't want to taint the results, i can wait a few days, and be late a few dozen times, oh well my cell phone knows what time it is anyway. ;D ;D ;D I'm not sure how to incorporate half eaten food and watches in a photo, so for sure i need that skolarship. BTW are fingerprints and dust particles part of the technique? i may be catching on... diver88

Hey Terry Not sure about fingerprints and dust particles. That could be part of the advanced effects klass. Artistic blur will get you noticed for the Hall of Fame now that you have the food props. Well, almost all ;D ;D ;D Take care pal ZIN
