Hey guys, just wanted to chime in and say hey. I've visited this forum for a few weeks now and it's owner's reviews have helped me decide on getting the new 9937RI. I have been a fan of the Rolex Subs for a little while now and since I can't see myself dropping 4k on a watch just yet I figured an Invicta would be a good alternative. I can say that John's review article on the 9937RI is really what made me place the order. I had been contemplating it for a couple of weeks prior to that, but just wasn't sure weather or not I should get one. Well, I did and so far I'm happy with it even though the UPS man has just dropped it off. I still have to get the bracelet adjusted later today. I inspected the watch very closely when I got it to make sure everything was fine with it. From the initial looks all seems ok. Now for the few gripes I've found on the watch. One of which I know no one seems to have noticed yet, but I was sure that's what it was when I looked at the photos on John's review.
1) The turning bezel could be a little more precise and smoother. I had read that the new 9937 had a new smoother bezel with 2 clicks per minute indicator, but wasn't sure if the Coin bezel on the RI was the older type or not... humm, just a little rough, even when compared to my Seiko Divers. Shame.
2) The Invicta decoration on the rotor is actually an applied item. By this I mean it's glued on or otherwise attached to the original rotor. You can tell, because mine is slightly off rotation placement then John's is in his pictures. I'm willing to bet this was done to bling the watch a little and to also (more importantly) hide the original wording of Swiss Made vs Swiss Movt on the rotor. While I understand Invicta's reason for doing this, they could have paid a little more attention to detail when applying these overlays.
Overall, the watch is smaller then I had anticipated and this makes for me forgiving some of the minor details that are not perfect since it must take a very patient hand to create this watch. I like it so far and I can tell you that unless you're super picky like me and go over every little microscopic detail of the watch it's still a good buy for $374.00.
Well, thanks for listening and sorry for the long first post. Maybe John will pass on some of my detailed analasys to Invicta so they can improve the QC dept which we all hear needs it.
Thanks
