A friend of mine who owns about has about 20K worth of highend watches recently asked me to check out the Invicta brand. I guess he figured after years of prodding me to purchase an Omega, Breitling or Rolex without success, I might give up some cash for a quality sub $500.00 watch. So, I have spent the past few days monitoring your posts and reviews. By the way, the forum etiquette is refreshing. I definitely have learned a lot about these watches from your reviews. Today, I bit the bullet and ordered a 9937(old bezel) and as impatient as I am, I paid the extra doe to have it shipped overnight. Certainly, I didn't expect to get it tomorrow, but I was pleasantly surprised that one of this site's sponsors has already sent me the tracking number for a delivery tomorrow. My hopes are that this watch lives up to the high praise it has gotten here and on other sites and reviews. I'm a skeptic, but always ready to be surprised. If it lives up to expectations, I am certainly ready to splurge on the new OGII TT I saw on shopnbc(I hope I didn't break a rule). I'm also pretty fond of the new Swiss Speedway. Anyway, enough of my rambling and I will try to wait patiently until tomorrow.

Mark,
You really will enjoy the 9937. Good choice.
It looks like you have been doing your homework; which is the right thing to do when selecting any watch. Even though you may be spending "only" $300, that's still an investment worth investigating.
Be sure to let us know how the watch turns out - and get your camera out and show us what it looks like.
Congrats on the excellent selection

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I've been on the UPS website and the package is on the way. I hope my pictures can do it justice. I'm a novice at photography. However, I will do my best. I'm headed to NY for the weekend and I can't wait to try it out. Funny thing though, I was looking at pictures of the OGII TT and my wife loved it. She offered to buy it tonight. Unfortunately, my honesty and love of being married forced me to reveal my earlier purchase of the 9937. But it was tempting to think of a two for one... ;D

Good for you! Let us know how you enjoy your weekend in NY with the new watch. Don't worry about your skill with a camera - we all just like to see pics!

The 9937 arrived today in a bright yellow box. However, my order was missing the band resizing tool I ordered so I had to visit a local shop to get it resized. My best watch is a Seiko Premier Chronograph SNA143 so that is what I will be using for comparison. Opening the 9937's case, I was immediately pleased with its overall aesthetics. It is visually everything I expected. There were no scratches or scuffs noted. Some have expressed displeasure at the Invicta logo on the case. I for one don't mind it at all. IMHO, it is unobtrusive and well placed. As most of you know, the band is very well done. I love the shiny center links even though I'm sure I will scratch them eventually. Advantage: 9937. But, I must say that the Seiko has one of the best clasps I've ever seen. In a static display, the Seiko wins the beauty contest for me. It is a very well designed piece. On my wrist, however, the 9937 wins the beauty contest. It shouts quality. Probably due to the fact it looks like a Sub. In addition, the 9937 feels manlier on my wrist. The Seiko, for some reason, seems too cultured and metro sexual. Looks advantage: tie. Picking up the 9937 I was actually surprised that it felt lighter than my Seiko. I never really noted the heft of the Premier. That said the 9937 is no lightweight. It feels substantial in your hand. At 6'3" and 245lbs, I feel comfortable with larger watches. One thing I did note on the 9937 was an ever so slight misalignment of the bezel in the north and south positions. This was minor and not easily seen. Both watches have a sapphire crystal but the curvature of the Premier's crystal made it hard to see the dial at different angles. The curvature also reflected light even when looking dead on. Seiko definitely made the decision of style over substance here. Setting the watches discovered my first issue with the 9937. I could not get the crown to pull out. ;D I guess you should unscrew the crown first. Anyway, once I figured this out, setting the date and time was a breeze. Setting the premier was easy as well. Overall, I love both of these watches. When I'm out with the wife and her friends, the Seiko Premier may fit the bill. However, when I'm hanging with the guys at the cigar shop, the 9937 will definitely be on my wrist. Now, what about value? I purchased the Premier some time ago for $299.00. I paid $350.00 for the 9937 with old style bezel. Would I pay a thousand dollars for the 9937? In a word, no...Do I think I got a good watch for what I paid? Maybe... The true test of value will come over the next few months. If the 9937 continues to run and doesn't have to be repaired, then it will have been worth the cost. But if it breaks down in the first few months, I probably won't buy another Invicta over $100.00. One thing I can say, the 9937 attracts attention. After having the 9937 resized, I put it on and stopped by a store on the way home. Almost every guy I passed looked down at the watch. It really shines under fluorescent lights. Finally, I'm happy with the 9937 today. Who knows what tomorrow will bring. I will try and post pics soon.

Hey Mark, Nice watch mate.Congratulations.From what I've seen of the Invictas I think they are good value for money. The photos are fine and all it takes is practice and a bit of time. You will find that light appears to be your biggest problem,I would suggest photos in natural light to start with.(A photo near a window and turn your flash off.) Cheers Aaron

Mark, Those were some REALLY great photos for your first time out! I can tell you that the first time I tried to take watch pictures, they didn't come out nearly as good.... Thanks for the nice write up on the 9937, and comparison with your Seiko. I hope you get years of enjoyment...from both!
