I am new to the watch collecting world and have started with a few Invictas. I have purchased an 8926 with the original bezel, the new bezel and a 9404. They seem to be good pieces and I am looking for some advice on maintaining them, and also looking for a reputable watch repair shop in the San Gabriel Valley. Thanks.

! I just bought an Original Bezel 8926. I already own a 9404 (blue face sub-style). I have worn my 9404 almost every day for the last 2 years, and it has run flawlessly. It has some scratches on the crystal because I walked into a stucco wall... The stainless steel bands tend to get scratched up, especially on the polish. I suggest that if you are going to wear the watch a lot you should get a leather strap for it. Mine has been through a lot, but still looks pretty good. See my photos in the contest thread to see my 9404, or go here: www.iearnit.com/yule2002/DavidHernandezInvicta1bw.jpgwww.iearnit.com/yule2002/DavidHernandezInvicta2sepia.jpgwww.iearnit.com/yule2002/DavidHernandezInvicta3color.jpgI'm really posting here because we basically own the same watches and I was surprised to see that. Someone else will have to tell you about service because honestly, I haven't had a single problem... Dave.

Sounds like you've got some very nice Invictas! Could you please be a bit more specific regarding what sort of maintainence advice you're looking for?I don't know anything about your local area, but I'm sure you can find a watchmaker to bring your watch to if necessary - should be done around every 5 years with an automatic - though for the price of the Miyota based Invictas, it might be just as cost effective to sell them and buy new ever 3-5 years. I was just curious if there is anything I need to do to ensure that the watch lasts and is reliable. I am curious when you say buy every three years, are you referring to the actual watch or the mechanism? Thanks for all of the help. I also enjoyed your reviews of Invictas and I must say they were influential in my decision. Thanks.

The movement should be serviced every 3-5 years (but many people only service their watch when it starts behaving irregularly). If you dive regularly, you'll want to change the gaskets about once a year to protect the water resistance rating. Other than that, wear and enjoy! John
