Seiko Prospex 200M Diver model SBDC001. Boscoe's got his pics of it in several threads. I want one in my stocking so badly.

If there was a deal, I'd buy the Accutron VX200 chrono with the Valjoux 7750 in a heartbeat.

I just want to say that it is pretty clear from my watch collection that I'm not rolling in dough.
I probably wouldn't be here if it weren't for the fact that I am interested in people who have this same obsession, regardless of their budgets.
With regard to the question at hand, I have to say that I don't really like to spend more than $150 on a watch, or at least until recently.
I bought the $500 ESQ for about $230 including tax because I was just stricken with it, but even the $300 Hamilton I'm waiting on to be delivered costs less than $150.
So, while I'm willing to go a little above my limit, the fact is that so far, I'm just not that interested in watches in the range of say $500 to, say, $1000.
Not that there aren't some good looking watches in that range, but there are some good looking watches and highly functional ones, too, that cost quite a bit less.
Now, when you get above about $1200, you start getting into the range of the, as the Swatch Group puts it, the prestige watches, where not only is there quality, but status symbols and items of conspicuous consumption.
The world might appreciate a man who has a sense of value, but the world is more likely to respect a man for whom image and exclusivity are worth a few grand for an instrument whose function can be surpassed by a timepiece that costs $20 or less, craftsmanship, precious stones and metals notwithstanding.
One of our members said he would make a down payment on a more expensive watch. Another said that he would buy two or more of a less expensive watch.
Retail prices aside, I decided to look at watches that could be purchased for about $450 to about $550 on the market.
I saw a lot of interesting watches, but none so different from what I already have, including those six Timexes and two Casios that I own, that I finally came to the conclusion that if you were to offer me $500 dollars to buy a new watch that I would in the interest of fair play, simply decline the offer.
As things stand now there's nothing out there in that price range that I really want and I would feel that I would be cheating if I merely made a down payment on a more expensive watch.
It might be time for me to take my watch interests to a new level, so that I am buying fewer watches and instead buying a watch that has just a little prestige to go along with the other factors that make watch buying interesting to me.
Right now, the one that really rings my bell is the Omega Deville SS with the SS bracelet.
I saw my first Omega when I was about 18 and I really liked it a lot. Unfortunately, styles have changed and I'm not too impressed with the styling of most Omegas, but the Deville seems to have retained a sleek style that is pure elegance.

I would buy a Wittnauer Women's Barrymore 12 Diamond Dress Watch for my wife for Christmas. I have the men's version (a real looker IMHO) as it was given to me for my 35th anniversary with my company. She just loved it and she does not know there is a ladies version. Fact is, that is what I am going to get her and it is real nice to know you are going to pay for it. When will I get the check?
