So I stopped into the local AD to pick something up tonight, and while I was there, had to handle some Rolex's of course. I realized I've never tried on a DateJust, so I tried one on in 18K gold and wow.. Loved it!!! It was yellow gold, crisp white dial, roman numeral markers - absolutely stunning. They had a rose gold version too (on an oyster bracelet) which I'd probably prefer if buying as the rose gold looks stunning, but I really liked the presidents band, so I'd have to have that. I've never liked the DateJusts on me as I've thought they are too small. But I gotta say, 36mm never looked so good.... I think I wore it around the store for 10-15 minutes before taking it off.... I'm thinking I could learn to live with 'just' a 36mm DateJust presidents...... hummm............ I think it just jumped to the top of my dress-watch hunt.....

President bracelet on a DJ? I know you can get the Jubilee bracelet with concealed clasp on the DJ, i didn't realise you could get the President bracelet on a non Day-Date watch. An interesting development! :-)

Now you've got me wondering, but I'm pretty sure it was a date & not a day / date.... It was the pres & not jubilee bracelet though. That much I'm sure about... I supose it is possible I was drooling so much I covered the day up though.... Hummm.. Gives me a reason to go back in tomorrow to check... ;D

Is there a different cost for this? I don't follow what you're asking. It's not a question of cost really....it isn't an option. Outside the US you could order a Day Date bracelet and put it on a DJ if you really wanted....

Clarification:
Does the DJ now come with the Presidential bracelet as the standard bracelet, or are ADs putting it on the DJ and charging more?

Ok, my bad.. The yellow gold with the president was indeed a day date. The datejust's I was looking at were the jubilee or oyster bracelet.. So with that, I'd have to go day date to get the president.... What was confusing me is I really liked the rose gold model & that was a DJ with oyster. TF, I double checked and as John said, the president bracelet isn't an option on the DJ, and an AD won't put one on as Rolex won't sell them a president bracelet by itself (replacements have to go to Rolex for exchange). I tell you what though, if I was going to spend the money on an 18K DJ, I'd definitely spend a bit more to get the Day Date with the president. It wasn't that much more & looks absolutely fantastic IMO... Mistake or not, it's still extremely nice & fit very well IMO for a 36mm when I'm used to the 42-46mm sizes..

Scott: What prices were you seeing on them? To be honest, I wish they had a SS version. I am to rough on watches to have gold.

A single quick vintage Prezy is a tempting buy at around 6-8k on the preowned market, as compared to the new price. I'm very surprised you'd give a watch the size of a DJ/DD a second look. Could you even see a 36mm watch Scott? Or would you have to buy special glasses now that your eyes have been ruined by the wallclocks-on-a-strap you've been wearing? ;D ;D ;D ....ducking and running! ;D

You a funny, funny guy pal..... ;D ;D It could see it just fine than you - I had my binoculars with me... ;D ;D ;D To be honest, I was surprised I gave it another look too. Actually, I don't think I've ever tried one on because the size was too small. But, even though when I first put it on it looked like a watch for a 8 year old on my wrist (I know, boy wouldn't that be a lucky 8 year old to have that watch!!) after a few minutes, it started to look better. I'm sure it's just a matter of getting used to it. For the occasions it would be worn for, which would be the dressier occasions, I think it would be good. I actually didn't want to take it off & hand it back.. Lots of dough though. If I decided to go that route (still unsure of the model I'll want for a dress watch & the JLC is very, very close to the top of the list) I'll definitely look pre-owned.
